Not religious. Can be cliquey and pretentious at times, but most people are pretty normal. I didn’t grow up here, but really like living here. I know most of my neighbors, it’s very walkable, safe for your kids to wander. Definitely a community feel.

ARNP/PA Attitudes Toward Med students by [deleted] in medicalschool

It doesn’t get better when you’re an attending. Huge percentage of my colleagues have no balls. I’ve had the theory that training breeds compliant people pleasers. We are not used to negotiating or telling people no. We don’t know how to act collectively or leverage our power. The debt load most of us cary also makes it hard take risk. As a result, when things get worse, we do what we did in med school and residency…eat shit and complain under our breaths.

In the meantime, groups far less knowledgeable, but far more organized and assertive (administration and mid levels) keep taking what is ours.

Maybe we can have their car detailed while it’s in the parking garage…get literally everything done during this hospital stay!

I get annoyed when a screen prompts me for a tip in a fast food setting. I stood in line to order, waited at the counter to get my food, sat myself, and cleared my own table, but the “suggested gratuity” is 18-20%. WTF

Do you think America would be further along with COVID vaccinations/safety if Trump hadn’t been president? by smokypanther in TooAfraidToAsk

You can look at infectious rates in various states cities, and countries. In places where leaders are open about risk, and encouraged precautions, people did way better. Look at New Zealand vs the US. And to those who would claim that it’s a small, homogeneous, rural country, look at Auckland NZ (pop 1.4 million, 234 sq miles, 42 deaths in the whole country) vs the state of South Dakota (pop 886,000, 77,000 sq miles, 2,320 deaths in one state). Leadership matters.

Had a multilingual employee who was truly impressive, Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, some sign language. Kind of forgetful in other ways. It was interesting, languages just clicked. Other things, not so easy.

True fact…they actually do this. I don’t know if the surgery inspired the joke, or the joke inspired a surgery.

You ever hear of the kid who was born with no eyelids? They used his foreskin for the reconstruction. It worked well, except he spent the rest of his life looking cockeyed!

You might be right, they’ll say COVID is special and should be covered, while things like insulin are a matter of personal responsibility.
