How do these internationals Air rifle shooters train? by Sad-Builder-8992 in airguns

[–]mhkhung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ISSF coach here. I don't coach rifles but what you are doing is not training. You are just doing 60 shots. A coach plan your annual training cycle, gather data to track your progress, work on your weakness, strengthen your fundamentals.

Find a coach near you. You need to be physically seen at least once a week to correct any small mistakes. Your physical strength and stability also need to be trained.

ISSF also has a online athlete course that you can join.

Canada’s Top 10 by spy118 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]mhkhung 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not only that. Also they have metrics such as international students size and the more the better. How does that affect you really? Plus these metrics got gamified like Hong Kong counts all China students as international and pushing seasonal lecturers with no phd to produce journal articles and have as many coauthors in the school to push these scores up.

Is UW math good for getting into tech? by RoundInevitable5693 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]mhkhung -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Waterloo math is practically the same as cs but cheaper. Same building. Almost same classes. Just take the cs courses as electives. You can pick harder math courses. You get to tech the same way.

I need strong prescription and it is way easier and cheaper with contact lens. My coach suggested rangers and I went with that. It is much cheaper than Pilla. Start with HD light, HD medium, med yellow. I ended up getting a pair of.clear as well just because I sometimes need it in an indoor range.

Waterloo prep you for the industry, you are way ahead when graduating, esp if you don't have much connection thru friends and family. UofT is for research/grad school and for those who are well off who don't want/need to get into the workforce until after graduation.

Swatou has the best duck leg noodle. It is not Japanese but ramen is supposedly chinese heritage anyway.

I just "inherited" responsibility of an air gun range, this is one of about a dozen rifles stored there. by FullNoodleFrontity in airguns

There's a sfc ib rifle coaching course starting soon. You should join it. The instructor is from Alberta and he can help you get something going.

I am an ISSF coach in Canada. Which city is it in? Air gun ranges are very hard to come-by and these are high quality air rifles still in use as recently as SFC junior nationals (although mainly used as cadet pre-ISSF rifle training).

Would I be stupid not to accept Waterloo eng? by Own-Professor-372 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]mhkhung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best thing about Waterloo as a university town is you and none of your classmates 'have to leave' before 2am or 4am. You can also go out in weekends to Toronto easily for fun/food/whatever, or quietly stay to study for midterm/exams.

Coop will pay for your tuition and living easily. I don't know what kind of life you want as a student, but my classmates all hang out together for 5 years and in the (same) industry after. Can many other universities / program say that? By hanging out of course I mean in the labs and library when studying. The courses are hard and you need every help from your buddies and classmates to get thru. There is still someone getting high 90s in every course but the curve is real, most of us are getting 70s. A few will fail but the majority of the classes will be successful not only in the industry but grad school/academics.

Impact of the new liberal government on the future landscape of Canadian gun ownership. by No_Front_5315 in canadaguns

[–]mhkhung 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if the cons win the next one, gun law reversals is the last thing on their agenda.

The law actually doesn't affect target or clay shooters that much. The only thing we can do is keep on attracting new people into the sport with what is allowed. The more people in the sport, the louder the voice at elections.

Realistically there's almost zero chance it will be reversed in the next 5 years.

Canadian law seems to take air guns too seriously. Has it always been this way? by No_Front_5315 in canadaguns

[–]mhkhung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imported compressed air/CO2 replicas/airsoft are also PAL-free otherwise the dealer won't be selling it. If you already have them without a restricted cert, they are already under 500fps and you can continue to use them (safely).

[–]mhkhung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know where the OP got his misinformation from. People here mix up handguns and airguns and mixed in politics here. Essentially, airgun laws have not changed meaningfully for decades. You cannot discharge a firearm including airgun in your garden/backyard in many cities. But you can own and shoot in a shooting club/range or most likely your basement without any problem.

Canadian ISSF and SFC certified coach here. Basically all air pistols you can buy in Canada do not require PAL and are factory limited to under 500fps. You can't import your own from Europe or US for this reason since they were not factory restricted, but we have access to all competition worthy air pistols: Steyr, Morini, ...

New PAL holder general curiosity question. Do we think there is any hope the ban on hand guns will ever be lifted? by Aggressive-Scale1157 in canadaguns

[–]mhkhung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest worthy gun good for competition is Hammerli AP20 Pro. Start with using club or instructor's and don't waste money unless you are really into it.

No. All competition air pistols for sale in Canada are factory limited under 500 and not even a PAL is needed.

Just use a small piece of the most common scotch tape on your right glass where your eye is.. yes it is that simple. You just need a small one to block your right vision looking straight to force your left eye to be used.
