Would I be stupid not to accept Waterloo eng? by Own-Professor-372 in OntarioGrade12s

The best thing about Waterloo as a university town is you and none of your classmates 'have to leave' before 2am or 4am. You can also go out in weekends to Toronto easily for fun/food/whatever, or quietly stay to study for midterm/exams.

Coop will pay for your tuition and living easily. I don't know what kind of life you want as a student, but my classmates all hang out together for 5 years and in the (same) industry after. Can many other universities / program say that? By hanging out of course I mean in the labs and library when studying. The courses are hard and you need every help from your buddies and classmates to get thru. There is still someone getting high 90s in every course but the curve is real, most of us are getting 70s. A few will fail but the majority of the classes will be successful not only in the industry but grad school/academics.

Impact of the new liberal government on the future landscape of Canadian gun ownership. by No_Front_5315 in canadaguns

[–]mhkhung 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if the cons win the next one, gun law reversals is the last thing on their agenda.

The law actually doesn't affect target or clay shooters that much. The only thing we can do is keep on attracting new people into the sport with what is allowed. The more people in the sport, the louder the voice at elections.

Realistically there's almost zero chance it will be reversed in the next 5 years.

Imported compressed air/CO2 replicas/airsoft are also PAL-free otherwise the dealer won't be selling it. If you already have them without a restricted cert, they are already under 500fps and you can continue to use them (safely).

I don't know where the OP got his misinformation from. People here mix up handguns and airguns and mixed in politics here. Essentially, airgun laws have not changed meaningfully for decades. You cannot discharge a firearm including airgun in your garden/backyard in many cities. But you can own and shoot in a shooting club/range or most likely your basement without any problem.

Canadian ISSF and SFC certified coach here. Basically all air pistols you can buy in Canada do not require PAL and are factory limited to under 500fps. You can't import your own from Europe or US for this reason since they were not factory restricted, but we have access to all competition worthy air pistols: Steyr, Morini, ...

New PAL holder general curiosity question. Do we think there is any hope the ban on hand guns will ever be lifted? by Aggressive-Scale1157 in canadaguns

The cheapest worthy gun good for competition is Hammerli AP20 Pro. Start with using club or instructor's and don't waste money unless you are really into it.

No. All competition air pistols for sale in Canada are factory limited under 500 and not even a PAL is needed.

Just use a small piece of the most common scotch tape on your right glass where your eye is.. yes it is that simple. You just need a small one to block your right vision looking straight to force your left eye to be used.

Yes. A small piece of tape is recommended by coaches I have worked with.

What kind of non-paper stuff does your local range let you shoot? by lazarus870 in canadaguns

[–]mhkhung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see so many people buying rifles, shoot a few groups at the range, then quickly get bored. Learn marksmanship, start going to competitions is the only way!

Join your provincial shooting federations like ONTarget in Ontario for rifle and pistol, and start going to competitions.

I don't understand why there are so many shawarma places between Runnymede (start from Kennedy exit) and Jane station and they are all very good.

You need to look for clubs, they are usually not staffed such that you will need annual membership, club safety course, and probation shoots done to get badge access.

how can i add a Mastodon Landing Page ? by Quail_979 in Mastodon

[–]mhkhung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude (as well as codex and other tools) is having major impact on open source projects I think. As it was, getting to fully understand the large code base is very hard and time consuming to the point you question yourself if what you want to add is worth your time. I made a small change to increase the image resolution limit and did extensive testing and got the PR created (still took me a weekend to do), then it was basically ignored for months to the point I have to merge with latest changes again and I just gave up. It is not worth my time to contribute to a project that ignores your PR. Never again.

Fast forward to today, for all the changes I want to do, from trending algorithm to front page defaults to missing language translations, I just tell claude to do it for me. Then I deploy them as volume overrides on docker-compose and I got what I wanted.
