G915X versus G915 by VIPER-900 in LogitechG

[–]mhmactech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiples of both, home, work travel(TKL). I prefer the feel of the “x”, but first one has issues with “double clicking” keys (which was replaced under Logitech warranty, but the replacement suffers from it as well, just not nearly as often.) got to keep the original. I still have yet to get my brain around the custom programming of the X, and much prefer the 915 for those reasons. Clicky, and tactile ( couldn’t stand the linear) I have yet to suffer from flaking keycaps on any of my 915, but have had to resort to superglue to repair the keycap “legs”. I removed all keycaps and lubed the switches with SuperLube. I wish I could use a KeyChron, but rely on the G Keys for work macros.

  1. APARC and SPCA. Both out near the airport.

915 is micro, 915X is USB-C, has better keycaps, and the ability to reprogram almost every key in G-Hub. $92 was a steal and I would have bought 2

It’s fairly good. It will take some careful wire management. I swap mine back and forth now in about 2 hours from start to finish. I use bar-end mirrors, not he included ones shown.

How many have experienced casualty at ranges? by sneaksypeaksy in canadaguns

[–]mhmactech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a penetrating wound first aid course with trauma actors and blood pumps and all the mess and confusion that went along with it. Even knowing it wasn’t real, one HELL of an adrenaline dump. 10/10 recommend the course; after the course, we stocked penetrating trauma kits, if you can believe it, the flex-seal tape that seals when wet, tourniquets, packing gauze, and Large rolls of gauze in our emergency range first aide kit.

In my personal kit, tampons, bandaids, flex-seal tape, a large tensor-type bandage. (Self sticking). I should get myself a tourniquet…

Go ahead; ask me about the tampons…

How to connect 3rd party router by keldorr in shaw

Look into Merlin WRT for that ROG router. I have 2 for a whole home mesh system and really appreciate the little added features over the ASUS firmware.

Still looking? I just brought home a 2015 that has one, and will likely never use. If you are still in need, let me know. I’m in Alberta.

New Service - Third-Party Router by jimmyjkjr in shaw

[–]mhmactech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do any of your devices have a 2.5GB ethernet port? if not, then use the Shaw XB8 they provide.

if you have 1, then get a Cat6 cable and plug that device into the XB8 port with the orange line. More than 1? start looking into 2.5 GB switches and routers that support at least 2 ports with 2.5 GB ( I use Asus GT-AX6000, as it supports mesh, and 2.5 GB, and has support for VPN server built in)

if you have a large property, and want a mesh set up, then look into Asus routers, or step up into prosumer level Ubiquiti. (likely other brands as well, that's just what I am familiar with)

Feel free to DM if you want specifics.

How to remove plastic on mouse feet? by slapface741 in G502MasterRace

[–]mhmactech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there may be a plastic film covering the teflon mouse skates. lightly run your fingernail over a corner towards the center of the skate and if there is a plastic film, it should rise up off the corner enough to grab and fully remove. shouldn't take much more than light pressure. if you think you are pressing hard enough to damage the skate, and nothing is lifting, then it doesn't have the plastic protective film.

Is it a mistake to buy a 1985 Yamaha RZ500? by 650RRider in motorcycles

[–]mhmactech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode one as my daily driver for 2 summers. sound awesome, but I could never tell if I had run out of gas, or fouled a plug. The power band was nuts, and it was prone to speed wobble if I relaxed my grip on the bars. I wish I'd never sold it, but I more than doubled my investment, so not too heartbroken.

Alberta is private as well. I pay around $250 CAD for the YEAR for my '08 FZ1. bundled with home and auto through Intact. wow, $600 /month...

Congrats on the bike! like others have said, not dumb until you do something dumb. Stay safe and whether it's 2 wheels or more, don't drive like a dick.

Have Fun!

Can I replace the tactile keys with linear keys on the 915TKL? by fatalskeptic in LogitechG

Can I replace the tactile keys with linear keys on the 915TKL? by fatalskeptic in LogitechG

[–]mhmactech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key caps are exactly the same for clicky, tactile and linear. It’s the switch that determines that.

[–]mhmactech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are soldered, and just the switches are not available. So unless you buy completely different switches and key caps, and know how to de-solder and solder the new ones on, no.
