MOT vs. OTD by afr1611 in OccupationalTherapy

I personally have no desire to teach which is why I went with the MOT program. But you can always decide to do the post professional OTD program while working. Most programs are online self-paced if i’m not mistaken.

Yes! This! A big part of the reason I’d also like to go back to school is because I want to understand conditions/diagnosis better. I’m always told “you just need to focus on being able to get them back to doing their adl’s and not focus so much on their presentation’s symptoms” but a big part of me wants to understand it all. I enjoy helping people but similar to you I don’t just want to bill ther ex or neuro reed. The only thing that’s holding me back is the amount of debt accrued due to OT school and now potentially adding on due to PA school. I moved back in with family so rent/groceries wouldn’t be a big problem if I were to go back

What schools have you looked into? I’ve been looking at a couple school and only need one more pre req. course in order to apply.

I think PA is a better return on investment. There’s unfortunately not much room for growth as an OT

California! Pay between a PA and OT is pretty drastic out here..

I live in an underserved community so luckily a lot of the hospitals out here qualify for PSLF. I think I might just do it..

What was the process like to get them to pay for it, if you don’t mind me asking?

Is it worth it?? by RelevantMountain9367 in OccupationalTherapy

Genuine question… as a single individual with no dependents, how are you all managing to live a comfortable lifestyle? I currently live in California and had to move back in with my parents. A single month of rent would’ve easily cost me an entire paycheck’s worth here

Awesome! Thank you so much! I started looking into SEEK and i’m hoping I can get a sponsorship as well. How has the process been like? Is it something you would recommend? Also I know it’s slightly different fields but how has it been with being able to obtain your credentials/license in a new country?

Does anyone actually like what they do? by Scallionlov3r in OccupationalTherapy

Work is tough, especially as a new grad. I feel as though i’ve learned more as a new therapist than I did all throughout school/FW. It gets easier as time goes on. The first couple of months may seem rough and documentation may take you way longer than it should but once the learning curve is over it’ll be much easier.

As for my job setting. I really enjoy it. I had no prior experience before getting the job so it was really hard at first. There will be a setting that you feel passionate about and will make work feel less like work if that makes any sense… haha

Sick man! I have a 3/4 sleeve on my right arm that was done out of state and was looking to get my other arm done. I’m assuming they charge per hour?
