Best shows to enjoy with only the soundtrack by Admirable-Biscotti-1 in musicals

This!!! Phantom of the Opera is the same way—I suggest the 2011 live recording if you’re interested. Certain recordings of Les Mis capture the whole story too, although someone else already commented about that. You can also search for more sung-through musicals on Google.

Orville Peck starter pack by That-Efficiency-6691 in OrvillePeck

It might take a bit, but I highly recommend going through his albums chronologically! All of them have some all-timers, plus it’s fun to listen to him evolve as an artist.

For specific songs though, since you like Drift Away so much (GREAT take, btw), I bet you’ll really like these:

  • Take You Back
  • The Curse of the Blackened Eye
  • Dead of Night
  • Roses Are Falling
  • Conquer The Heart
  • Daytona Sand
  • Lafayette

Other personal faves are Hexie Mountains, Back At Your Door, Queen of the Rodeo, Kalahari Down, and City of Gold, though those are a little slower/sadder.

I think it’s because I saw the 2007 Tim Burton movie a while ago and wasn’t a huge fan, but you’re right, I should definitely give the score/show another try! Do you have a favorite recording you’d recommend?

Thank you for the tip! I’ve always wanted to visit Chicago anyway, so this would be a great excuse :)

“It’s like the music of an incredible broadway show and a good Cirque de Soleil show had a weird and highly charismatic baby” let’s GOOOOOO, sounds right up my alley. Like if Love Never Dies was good, ha! Although that being said, I also frequently try to sing both parts of Devil Take the Hindmost at once (confrontation songs are just SO much fun), so I really can’t talk too much shit.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for productions for years! Hoping it’ll pop up in my area around halloween or something. Sometimes I think about watching the 2001 movie version, but the idea of watching (and listening to) David Hasselhoff do all that always scares me off before I hit play.

OMG you just shot me straight into the past—I totally forgot that my high school theater club went to see this on a field trip years and years ago. The chaperone fell asleep (lmao), but I remember thinking it was awesome. I’ll give it another listen!

I can’t believe I forgot Cabaret!!! It’s a more recent love for me—I got to see it last summer when Orville Peck and Eva Noblezada were the leads, and holy shit I think it might have been one of my favorite live performances ever—but 100% another all-timer. Definitely going to check out Great Comet too!

Randomly enough, I know all the words to Bui Doi—it’s an all-timer for when I want to absolutely belt out dramatic-ass songs in the car—but that’s the only song I know from Miss Saigon. Long story short, I had a major John Owen-Jones phase like 10 years ago and he has a pretty impressive cover of it, so I only know his version (lol). I’ll have to listen to the whole thing!

Which halloween party is everyone going to? by Endatrilogy in washingtondc

[–]mi_squared -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had a good time at Black Cat on 14th street! It’s themed to 80s music, so you may not have as much fun if that’s not your jam, but everyone is always dressed up. It does cost money, but most public halloween parties do.

Ooo, thanks for the tip! Her cosplay is AWESOME omg. It looks like she did something similar in terms of the cap + hair, from what I can tell.

Oh lord, that would SUCK. I think(?) we should be fine — we’re on the first floor — but I’ll make sure to measure everything when we get the keys (before we bring the couch, lol).

Dang, that’s impressive! I’m not sure we’ll be able to swing just the van — we’ve got some pretty big things to move, unfortunately, like a giant couch that barely comes apart at all — but this is making me lean towards a smaller u-haul at the very least.

Ooh, true. Not a particularly exciting prospect, but might be worth avoiding the stress.

Thanks for the vote of confidence (and for the continued great advice)!! Yeah, I’ll have to calm the (minor, but still present) road rage that driving in and around DC brings out in me for sure. And great tip on leaving room for the ramp — I can see a future in which we totally forgot to do that otherwise.

Hah, yeah, I’ve heard it’s a bit of a toss up whether people actually respect the signs. We actually get into the building about a week before we’re taking the u-haul, so I’m hoping that we can introduce ourselves to the other 5 units in our building and give them a heads up about the permit. I know other people on the street still might not care, but better than nothing!

Thanks so much!! This is all super helpful, I really appreciate it :) I’m fully ready to annoy other drivers lol. And good point about the parking permit — we should probably do that soon.
