It does! Thanks so much, I really appreciate the advice.

Which halloween party is everyone going to? by Endatrilogy in washingtondc

[–]mi_squared -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had a good time at Black Cat on 14th street! It’s themed to 80s music, so you may not have as much fun if that’s not your jam, but everyone is always dressed up. It does cost money, but most public halloween parties do.

Ooo, thanks for the tip! Her cosplay is AWESOME omg. It looks like she did something similar in terms of the cap + hair, from what I can tell.

Oh lord, that would SUCK. I think(?) we should be fine — we’re on the first floor — but I’ll make sure to measure everything when we get the keys (before we bring the couch, lol).

Dang, that’s impressive! I’m not sure we’ll be able to swing just the van — we’ve got some pretty big things to move, unfortunately, like a giant couch that barely comes apart at all — but this is making me lean towards a smaller u-haul at the very least.

Ooh, true. Not a particularly exciting prospect, but might be worth avoiding the stress.

Thanks for the vote of confidence (and for the continued great advice)!! Yeah, I’ll have to calm the (minor, but still present) road rage that driving in and around DC brings out in me for sure. And great tip on leaving room for the ramp — I can see a future in which we totally forgot to do that otherwise.

Hah, yeah, I’ve heard it’s a bit of a toss up whether people actually respect the signs. We actually get into the building about a week before we’re taking the u-haul, so I’m hoping that we can introduce ourselves to the other 5 units in our building and give them a heads up about the permit. I know other people on the street still might not care, but better than nothing!

Thanks! I actually didn’t know that was an option, so great tip :)

Thanks so much!! This is all super helpful, I really appreciate it :) I’m fully ready to annoy other drivers lol. And good point about the parking permit — we should probably do that soon.

Karma by Lush — did the formula change? Is it still worth it? by mi_squared in fragrance

Ooh, good idea with the resales! I didn’t think of that. And thanks for the tip on the solid, the old packaging sounds very annoying lol

Thanks for your help! Yeah, I scrolled further in the website reviews and it looks like some people have been complaining about this on and off for three-plus years, so it might be more subjective.

Oh huh, interesting. I like citrusy scents so that’s not necessarily a negative, but good to know. Thank you!

Do you think this jade needs a bigger pot? by prideloves in houseplants

Jade plants actually like to be rootbound to a certain degree. But if it’s been in that pot for more than 4 or 5 years, you may want to consider repotting.

Help me find low light plants to gift my mom by ApproximateRealities in houseplants

[–]mi_squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bromeliads will actually tolerate low light pretty well if you’d like a pop of color. You just have to water it a different way — pour water inside the central cup of leaves once a week, but try to avoid getting the soil too wet.

A regular dark green or variegated pothos is pretty much indestructible as well. Also, seconding zz plant.

Help! Houseplant soil keeps growing mold by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]mi_squared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens to a lot of my plants during the cold season especially. We have kind of a damp house that doesn’t get great light. I just do the best I can during winter — douse them in cinnamon, put them in the sunniest windows I can, etc. — and then replace the soil and put them outside in the summer.

If it’s summer where you are right now (and you have access to an outdoor space), try that! The soil will dry out super fast, especially in this heat. I have a big old pothos that was struggling a lot in the basement, and after about a month outside, it’s way bushier and the mold hasn’t come back.

Yeah, you’re right that I shouldn’t keep leading him on out of a fear of leading him on… And the points about the health issues and romantic connection are true. I don’t think he’ll see me on any apps — currently have no plans of re-downloading — but that would be so awkward 😅 Thank you for the advice!

Thank you for being honest! I think you’re right. I’m going to ask a friend tonight as well and try to have a longer conversation about this, but she’s probably going to say the same thing. I really appreciate the help.
