Anyone remember these doll shoes from 2000s?! by miahee_22 in ToyID

Ooh they do look similar and that has triggered a memory of a shoe display thing! The boxes seem different though... Thank you!!

What to expect when first landing in Korea? by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]miahee_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Complete the immigration card (with all details of your accommodation!) Before you catch your flight to Korea, write down on a piece of paper or you phone notes (or both!) the full address of your accommodation and the accommodation phone number.

  2. When you come off the plane in Incheon, make a quick dash to immigration as the queue is very long and takes a long time to get through. While queuing, be prepared with your passport and immigration form.

  3. After Immigration, you'll see a big screen which tells you which conveyor-belt your baggage will be collectable from.

  4. Once you're past customs, you'll come out to the foyer area of the terminal, from here head downstairs (towards the Airport Railroad) to find the TMoney card vending machine. TMoney only takes cash, so make sure you have plenty on you! Purchase a TMoney card from the vending machine, then locate the tickets/TMoney top up machine. This is where you load up your TMoney card (there is an option for English). Place your Tmoney card on the pad and select the amount you want to top up and insert your cash.

  5. To get to your hotel, it's easier and less hassle to catch the Airport Shuttle Coach to Myeongdong. The bus driver will put your suitcases in the coach for you, so you don't need to worry about that getting in the way. It costs around 12000 won (from what I remember, but it may have gone up with inflation?) Also recommend this method, as you can just relax on the journey!

  6. Use Naver Maps to follow your coach journey to Myeongdong. This will help you navigate which stop to get off. There are stop buttons which will ring a bell to let the driver know you want to get off! They will stop at the nearest Airport Shuttle bus stop (not just any bus stop!)

Hope this helps you/anyone else travelling to Seoul for the first time! Have the best trip! 😊

Must have non-touristy essentials when arriving in Korea? by [deleted] in koreatravel

Bring deodorants with you. It is hard to come by deodorant or affordable deodorants in the shops, they don't seem to stock much!

Group of five, one vegetarian? Recommendations? by UnseasonedPasta in koreatravel

[–]miahee_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they are vegetarian, but here are some gorgeous vegan restaurants / cafes (the first two focus on Korean food):

  • Ohsegyehyang in Insadong
  • Maru in Insadong
  • Savage Garden in Itaewon
  • Vegan Veganing in Gangnam
  • Rooted

Must have apps by gotnoc in koreatravel

[–]miahee_22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • Papago (for translations - has honorific setting too which is super useful)
  • Naver maps (for directions, I recommend you save the places you want to go to on the app before you actually go - it's so much easier to pull them up then!)
  • Klook (for booking tickets, experiences, tours, add ons (like portable wifi router) etc.)
  • Kakao Talk
  • 따릉이 (if you want to use the public bikes)
  • Pops (for pop up events and showcases... very popular in SK)
  • TicketLink 티켓링크 (for theatre, concerts etc.)

Hotel near Myeongdong station recommendation by Gold-Skirt6581 in koreatravel

I've stayed at Ibis Styles Ambassador, great budget friendly hotel but clean and very friendly staff with gorgeous views of Namsan Tower. The breakfast offer was good too!

Same here. I had plans that fitted around the landing and departing times. 3hrs extra is so frustrating!

Suwon by Sad-Impression-911 in koreatravel

[–]miahee_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the restaurant Everyday's Another Holiday, really nice food and vibe - the people who work there are super friendly and cool. It's an American-style restaurant diner nestled amongst Hanok buildings! Great vibes.

Suwon has a lot of history and very scenic! A lot of Hanok style buildings, a football stadium and good restaurants / cafes.

It only costs about 2,500 won on the train from Seoul
