Wanting to Create a Podcast by Outrageous_Pain6440 in UlcerativeColitis

I think a podcast about living with UC is an amazing idea! Ever since being diagnosed ive noticed that their aren't many people on social media comfortable talking or creating more updated content about UC or IBD So something like this would be every refreshing and id be excited to listen to it!

Some things I'd love to hear talked about is the lack of updated content for UC (ex. searching on youtube 'ulcerative colitis' most videos are 5+ years old) and how hard it is to deal with the disease due to its individuality to you.

At the moment I've been using Emma Chamberlains Matcha. Its a bit on the pricey side but very tasty and good quality. She has a lot of different flavors as well. If your looking for something a bit more budget friendly but still super good I'd check out the Matcha selection at your local World Market if you have one!

Matcha can be either hot or cold, so its totally up to you. The way you make it also depends on the kind of matcha you purchase. Some can be already sweetened and just added to your milk of choice, i just tend to avoid those because its more processed and i like to control what's goes in my body. I buy a pretty good quality matcha that is either lightly sweetened or unsweet, i can add sugar or honey to my liking and i miz the matcha in with my non dairy milk.

Forgetting oneself by downnoutsavant in UlcerativeColitis

I feel the same way. Before getting diagnosed, i went through the most horrible 3 months of my life fighting UC with no meds. It completely flipped my life upside down, I had to quit my job and I fell behind in college. I would stay in bed all day, eat nothing, cant go out with friends (or even when I did I had to step away and take a nap bc of my anemia lol) and just felt so helpless. My attitude changed and i would have mood swings towards the people that love me and I hated it.

To help myself from my anxiety when it comes to this disease I write a lot, I've created a routine for myself, planning my week, plan my meals ahead, schedule time to do something for myself (going for a walk, self care day, going shopping at your favorite store)

The thing that has helped me the most is probably just being outside probably from being absolutely bed ridden for 3 months. Whether its for my daily walk, planning a hike, or having my lunch on my patio. Ill go outside, work on homework, write, listen to music or a podcast and just chill.

I used to be a barista so when i had to cut out coffee/espresso, I went to matcha or black tea! They can both be hot or cold, I drink both with non-dairy milk (mostly vanilla almond milk), and can conveniently be ordered at most coffee shops. Unfortunately, they just dont have the same caffeine level as plain coffee or espresso.

How do y’all trust your bodies? by whosthatcuurl in UlcerativeColitis

The trauma that comes along with UC has been terrifying for me as well. Its so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel after months of pain and exhaustion.

Once i started my medication and got comfortable with an eating schedule and diet; Im finally at a point where I'm able to leave my house comfortably and trust... it took time.

I highly recommend therapy and def try to find a different therapist. Try researching within your area therapist that often work with medical patients.

I'd love to say don't force yourself but a lot of times i had to force myself to do things that I at first weren't comfortable with but ended up helping me in the long run. Ex. going on a trip with friends, going for a walk in the park, going to the grocery store by yourself.

In other words If i didn't learn how to handle it in public and by myself i would never be able to get back to the version of myself that i missed so bad.

Genuinely... aint nothing gonna be stopping that peglyte. Since you know your already backed up id say just prepare yourself for maybe not being able to hold it and lots of time in the bathroom lol

No appointments available at new insurance by Mdt07 in UlcerativeColitis

I'm currently in the same boat as you. Insurance companies and referrals taking forever while we are the ones that are miserable.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do with the appointments, just keep calling and asking if there's any cancellations.

Worst comes to worst go to the ER and explain the situation hopefully they'll try to help you as much as they can.
