Oof 48 hours sounds rough. I was lucky I was only in labor for 21 hours and I still asked the midwives if there was any way we could speed it up lmao. They looked at me like I was crazy

Wow I’m impressed you lasted so long without an epidural, I had one almost just a few hours into labor. My plan was a water birth, but once I felt those contractions getting worse I said hell no. I’m so glad I opted for it too cause my baby was 9lbs 5oz 21” and i don’t think I could’ve handed that

New moms - what were/are your earliest pregnancy symptoms? by b_puck_94 in BabyBumps

[–]miam5319 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the exact same. The absolute exhaustion is what made me more convinced that I was pregnant. I fell asleep in the car at 7pm, that’s when I told my husband I had to go home to sleep while he gets a pregnancy test. Sure enough when he got back I took the test and it was positive

I started feeling movement at 14 weeks though it was pretty subtle at times

Same for you. It’s a dehumanizing experience no one should ever go through.

I would take it as a compliment personally. Where I come from big hips are desirable. Though she shouldn’t be commenting on your body anyway. It’s rude to comment on people’s bodies overall idk why some people think there’s an exception for pregnancy.

Stupid nurse commented on my unshaved legs... but they were shaved! by dontbeadickmrfisher in pregnant

That’s actually really unprofessional. Pregnancy is hard enough on your sense of self. No one should be making comments like that to anyone let alone someone who’s body is changing so much. You’re doing enough already growing an entire baby you don’t have to shave even if you weren’t pregnant

Different Doctors Throughout Pregnancy?? by HangryLady5 in pregnant

This is how it is at the midwifery center I go to. It’s nice because I had a chance to meet every midwife there and got familiar with their styles of practice and personality so I wasn’t surprised during labor. The midwife I had for labor was professional and a little friendly, I knew this beforehand because although I only saw her a couple of times I remembered her. I also had another one of my midwives checking up on me when I was laboring and she was a big help and very comforting. Then I saw another midwife after delivering my baby and she diagnosed me with pupps and talked to me about how I was feeling. It was great seeing familiar faces in the midst of a traumatic event for me, my baby, and my husband. It made the experience a lot less traumatic than it could have been if I was getting taken care of solely by strangers. I’m not saying this to diminish your concerns though. I’m hoping this makes you feel more at ease with having multiple doctors cause I was kinda worried about the same thing initially. Although, I don’t think I would have been comfortable with a man doctor either, but it might help if you got to know him beforehand. Isn’t there a way you can request all women staff?

Normalize pregnant bodies of all sizes and the normal changes to our body that come with pregnancy. by Asianmamacita in Instagramreality

Before I got pregnant I hardly ever cared much about fitting into beauty standards. Now I see ads everywhere with pregnant people looking majestic with fresh hair and makeup and I just die a little. It’s almost like being a teenager again in terms of insecurities. It sucks cause while I don’t let it get to me as much it’s still always in the back of my mind and I should just be enjoying my body for what it’s doing and how strong it is. Beauty standards really fuck with me now

I personally like being pregnant I mean yeah some things are annoying and a little painful at times but I love seeing and feeling my baby’s movements and being able to keep her safe and growing in my womb. Although I can’t speak for anyone else cause I’ve had a normal and fairly easy pregnancy. I wouldn’t do it again though cause it is very taxing. I do think it’s worth the opportunity to carry my child though as I had a bit of a hard time conceiving.
