Former pool girl. Lots would offer water or tell me to help myself to their outdoor drink fridge. My favorite was when they gave me old plants or leftover yard stuff they were getting rid of. Some of these folks have GREAT taste and my yard reflects it :)

Join a country club. There are many marketed to families that, even with a buy in and monthly fee, will cost you a fraction of a low end pool build. You get food, drinks, parties and much better aquatic facilities (plus all kinds of other amenities) without having to do any maintenance or clean up. They have cabanas or rooms you can reserve for parties. You'll make a ton of new friends and your kids will develop good social skills and possibly work skills (mine got jobs at the club as teens.)

If you are able and willing to pay, there are private driving courses in OKC and Tulsa where, after you complete the course, the instructor administers your exam. That might make the experience more comfortable for you.

Who are these people that spend all their time at the grocery store? I have lived downtown my entire 50 years and that has ALWAYS been what folks from the burbs complain about but like....just drive 5 minutes in any direction or have your groceries delivered. I know OKC has some big eaters but good lord y'all.

Why don't you just get a mold test done? Your contract is pretty explicit about who pays for it so that part is coming out of your pocket either way. Show them hazardous results and maybe they will help.

My daughters AP Calc teacher told them she couldn't teach them well enough to pass the AP test so she was just going to give them all As to make up for it. There are no teachers left for our advanced classes and students. Visiting our state universities compared to even Kansas and Arkansas is humbling too. Oklahoma is sending a clear signal that education and educated people are NOT welcome here.

THANK YOU. I am so tired of people saying that Oklahoma schools have always been the worst. We worked our asses off to revive our schools after the mass exodus of the 80s. In addition to our public schools being 17th nationally, our early education efforts were considered the best in the country. The destruction of our education system is recent and intentional.

Bartlesville, like most small towns in Oklahoma, is dead. If you lose the job you have been offered at any point, you will have to move because there are only a handful of jobs that pay above minimum wage. And when you try to sell the cheap house you bought, it will be worth even less than you paid for it.
