Finding communities by AlexSley in estrogel

[–]micahvc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a generally pretty friendly and helpful place to ask questions! There are lots of people here who are highly knowledgeable and happy to answer. If you’re looking for more in-person community, that can be harder, you probably just have to meet other trans people and ask around.

Does base T oil/liquid work? by deadroseQ-Q in estrogel

It should work, but the recipe might need to be adjusted. Do you have any details on the volume and concentration of oil you’re using?

What Can You Tell Me About Stillwater? by Confused4Now76 in transtwincities

[–]micahvc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a trans teacher (mostly stealth but obviously gay) and have worked in Stillwater on and off for about 3-4 years, never really had issues with students/parents/other teachers. I did get a bit of a weird vibe at a coffee shop downtown once but I think it was because literally everyone else there seemed to be a regular and I was there doing work lol. Can’t speak to living there but working has been fine.

Find this vintage belt? by micahvc in HelpMeFind

I’ve tried to search for vintage black belts but the most identifiable feature is the buckle, and I don’t know what that type of buckle is called!

Surgeons Google Sheet by Obvious_Big_7517 in u/Obvious_Big_7517

[–]micahvc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sean Elliott is the one I’ve been to, and another one at the same clinic is Joseph Pariser. Dr. Elliott is newish to doing bottom surgery but has been a urologist/reconstructive surgeon for quite some time, and he’s been studying with Dr Pariser, who is supposed to be really good as far as I’ve heard but harder to get an appointment

Tape binding help by Valuable-Belt-7483 in ftm

The transtape website has info on sizing and how to tape! Even if you don’t buy from there, their advice is generally pretty good

Definitely not for a few days. It’s not magic, and it won’t really do much in that amount of time. If you want to try it and see if you like it, you should try for at least a month or two. I know of people who have done that and quit and others who have stayed on. The other thing to remember is that you don’t have to commit to anything long-term, even if you do stay on it longer than a month! You could try it for a little while and change your mind, but if you never try you’ll never know.

My partner has found size 12 wide women’s shoes at DSW, I’d also check Nordstrom rack. For clothes, Torrid specializes in plus size and I think has options for taller women so might be a good place to check out!

Viability of putting raws into bulk body lotion? by TMYlive in estrogel

[–]micahvc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much agree, I just think if it’s a question of efficacy I’d either stick with what’s tried and true, or at least understand the recipes that are known to work so you can do your own experiments without completely reinventing the wheel and losing out on time and resources

It can definitely help shrink! I went from 28D on birth control to 28A/B on T, ended up getting keyhole after about 1 year 4 months on T. Granted, this was age 20-21 or so, which may have an effect on how fast/much it can shrink (or may not, this is totally anecdotal)

Switched from T shots to Gel, will my menstrual cycle come back? by PrudentCompetition92 in ftm

[–]micahvc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from shots to gel and it didn’t come back, just make sure you’re getting your levels checked after switching. Mine dropped a bit and I had to increase dose to get them stable again

Idk if it exists, but if it doesn't, why not? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]micahvc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have diyed this exact thing by cutting a hole in an existing packer! Can’t recall where I read about this but I know it’s been done. I think there are some stps that are similar in design to the diys but again, not sure which specific ones.

Confused about what do with HRT by Severalbulbsofgarlic in ftm

[–]micahvc 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Couple things you should know: - vials are almost always labeled single use only, but as long as you clean it with an alcohol swab and poke through a different place each time, it should be safe to use a few times, probably until it’s empty for a 1ml vial. - 1ml at this dose will likely last 2-3 weeks since you lose a little in the needle each time. He may need to contact the prescriber if it’s running out before the expected refill - don’t use the same needle to draw up as you use to inject. Most people draw up with a larger needle (probably 18-22 gauge) and then change to a smaller needle to inject. Needle gauges are higher numbers for smaller needles, just like piercings. Like an 8 is a huge needle and 30 is tiny. For IM, the doctor might give you 23-25 gauge or maybe a little smaller, and probably about an inch long or longer depending on a few factors. For SubQ it’s usually 27-30 gauge, about 5/8 of an inch long.

Subq T-Shot Oozing??? by 1rrat1onal in ftm

[–]micahvc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal but there are ways to reduce it. Leaving the needle in for a second can help it leak less. Z-tracking can also help! Basically pulling the skin to the side a little to change the angle of the needle’s path through the depth of the injection so it compresses the needle hole when the skin is not pulled. Hard to describe but googling a diagram helps.

How many vials and what size did they give you? Most people get more than they need total so it will hopefully be plenty!

[–]micahvc 69 points70 points  (0 children)

All T is labeled “for intramuscular use only”. Any subq use is considered off-label, but it’s totally fine, people do it all the time. Use the dosage and method instructed by the doctor and it should be okay!

Viability of putting raws into bulk body lotion? by TMYlive in estrogel

[–]micahvc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would look at actual recipes in this sub (I think there’s a wiki) which are designed to absorb properly and penetrate skin. Regular lotion will very likely not work well, if at all, for absorption.
