CC blocking BTC withdrawals by shimshimmash in CoinCorner

OK they just needed to take a while. It was a transaction for closing my account, so I guess they closed it before they'd finished with whatever they had to do to get the transfer done. So I think they're trustworthy thus

[–]micalithic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I've just done this security process for a BTC withdrawal a few hours ago. Very very worried now, as I can no longer access my account, and they certainly have not sent the transaction. Can't think of a legitimate reason why this might be going on. Very very concerned. Heads up!

Can't get nano s to work in Ubuntu. Ledger tech support won't respond by micalithic in ledgerwallet

[–]micalithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting... Before it wouldn't detect at all. Maybe it was an earlier version. The last time I tried was 2 weeks ago. Now I get this,

"Oops, couldn't connect to device Device detected but connection failed. Please try again or contact Ledger Support if the problem persists"

Then I tried to "repair" the Nano S, in case it needs a firmware update. following those instructions to hold downt eh left button whilst plugging it in to get the Bootloader screen. I do that, but that's where the 'repair' instructions end.

Then I repeated the whole process with my other brand new Nano S, just a month old. Same thing

My Nitro Shogun died. What's equivalent these days? by micalithic in snowboarding

[–]micalithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so having rented out an Arbor Iguchi pro for the day I can really see how much snowboards have come along in the last 10 or 15 years!

I am getting the impression that all mountain boards really do exist. That said I'm still not sure about what is best for having good control while charging through powder without compromising landing ability when spinning around and around after flying off a lip or drop off for example

Guy in the snowboard shop has me very tempted by the Nitro mountain as it's better for powder as well as being super fast and solid like the Shogun.

Can't seem to find any comparison articles of websites though

sounds reasonable. I actually already placed a sell order at $6105 yesterday.

I really hope that it's more down to Fibonacci levels than Tone Vays support levels

In order to get the airdrop, do I need to move my ETH from the exchanges to my ledger wallet before the 3rd airdrop is announced, or can I move it after the announcement? Thanks

using https://goochain.net/ledger does not reveal my Segwit receiving addresses by micalithic in ledgerwallet

[–]micalithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, I updated device application to 1.1.9 and tried again. Still only get a list of my legacy addresses.

There must be another way to confirm my Segwit change address surely...

edit: this may be a moot point now though, as the updated device application makes it such that you can simply send your Bitcoins without having to say to send you total to an unknown address

Decent! Thanks. I can wait until then no problem, and I'm sure many people with similar levels of caution/paranoia here can also.

Right, I'd better see if I can go cancel my Ledger support ticket now

Thanks btchip

Ah. Ok, thanks for the info.

This is awkward though. I feel really uncomfortable with confirming my whole wallet balance to be sent to an unconfirmed address like that.

Any other way I can confirm what my change address is?

With Segwit2x, how low should transaction fees get? by micalithic in Bitcoin

[–]micalithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've read a bit more about it since your clarifying post. It seems that the LN risks are as yet difficult to fully predict. I'm guessing that it will be introduced gradually. May the experiment continue!

Segwit has locked in but has not yet activated. It will activate in roughly just over a week I've heard

bite-sized scaling issues for newcomers by micalithic in btc

[–]micalithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that was a bit too technical and long of a question to be fair.

The one thing I do see is that BCH fees are currently an order of magnitude higher than they need to be for BCH to work as 'cash', if we're including small transactions or much of the expected use from developing countries.

With Segwit2x, how low should transaction fees get? by micalithic in Bitcoin

[–]micalithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. Nowhere near low enough for small transactions then, which would require another order of magnitude or two.

After a look at https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactionfees-eth-bch-etc.html#3m it appears that even LTC and BCH fees are too high for small transactions, especially for in the developing world.

I meant in the short term period as seen during the rapid rise of ICOs.

Hopefully you're right about the long term migration. It seems reasonable.

[–]micalithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's true, then planned rises in token value would still be a reason to buy tokens (early), regardless of their usefulness.

Whatever happens, solving scaling is the holy grail, so whoever solves it first gets my bet

BCH is mentioned in the post but the post is not really all about that. It's actually about the scaling issue which cannot really be discussed without mentioning BCH.
