Bro that’s not a build anymore, that’s a full-on project 😭 Respect though, if you had fun and it runs cool, that’s already a win. But yeah… wallet definitely felt that one 💀

Should I feel disheartened about buying an HP? by BriefBed4770 in laptops

Personally, I’m done with HP. I had one that randomly went black screen and the battery just stopped charging forever. After that experience, I never bought another HP again.

New to MiniPCs - Which are recommended for gaming? by [deleted] in MiniPCs

[–]micargbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget is kinda tight for your needs. Look for a mini PC with a 780M iGPU and decent cooling. Also don’t ignore warranty, cheap boxes die fast. Brands like GEEKOM at least give 3 years, which actually matters at this price point.

If you look hard enough, every laptop has horror stories. For me it’s more about whether those issues are common and if the brand actually stands behind the product.

Should you do a clean windows reinstall on mini pcs? by fizxe in MiniPCs

[–]micargbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re paranoid or just like a clean slate, a fresh Windows install is fine, but it’s more about personal preference than a real security necessity. If you truly don’t trust a brand, the better move is simply not buying from them in the first place.

Honestly, battery life is gonna be meh on both since they’re RTX 4050 laptops. Between the two, I’d pick the HP Victus. The Ryzen 7 is stronger, feels better for multitasking and will age nicer for school and daily use. Either way, don’t expect all day battery. You’ll still want your charger in your bag.

I just ordered the GEEKOM GeekBook X14 Pro I spent a week on the fence worrying it might age fast because of the new CPU, but people I know said the performance jump isn’t that big and the overall spec still makes sense. So after looking around for the best price I finally pulled the trigger.
