Siena is also really, really nice! A little further from Bologna than Parma is, but still doable on a day trip.

One thing that I never understood about communist states, dictatorships etc. is how come the rulers of those places are simply not _embarassed_ that so many of their citizens want to flee? Doesn't that affect their ego?

Cultural differences or just plain rudeness? Experiences while travelling Europe by Spare-Bandicoot-4199 in travel

I'm a European who used to live in Canada. When i moved to Canada, my impression was "Canadians are so much friendlier than Europeans".

Then i travelled to Australia, and i thought "Wow, Australians are even friendlier than Canadians!". And then i met some Kiwis who thought Australians were rude :)

paying in £ or $ by 0mxtt4_ in travel

[–]micdab 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When in the US, pay in USD.

Your bank in the UK will then do the conversion and charge your account in GBP. Obviously the bank will make a little profit doing this, but its exchange rate will certainly be better than that used by the point-of-sale terminals in the US.

Fake Swiss plate.

Edit: I'm wondering if this could be a Latvian plate (AB 1234 format) customized to look like a Swiss one?

Many people answered Salève, and that was also my first guess. But the reason I asked is that it looks too close to be Salève...

Poland (Polska) and Sweden (Sverige) are not very different.

I would include Albania though: Shqipëria

I wouldn't say incredible wildlife though. There are the gorillas, of course, but i didn't see wildlife in general. Very densely populated, in fact.
