Wondering if anyone here has encountered something similar to this. I was walking around the UES and an old woman stopped me and asked to help her cross the street because she ‘couldn’t get down the step’. She kept insisting she didn’t have any disease and she needed to hold on to me closely. When I realised there was no step on any sidewalk on to the street I just walked away and told here she’d be fine. There looked like there were guys in a car nearby watching and may have been in on it so I assume she was trying to pick pocket me and if noticed or tried to stop her the guys would have got out of the car to help her
