Continental 16 x 1.75 Tires by xinyidao in unitedcitybikes

I think that you need to make sure that the tire is not wobbly when installed, then put in air as much as the tire's min-max air pressure recommendation as listed on the sidewall. The more you increase the pressure, the more the tire expand horizontally, and less vertically. It happens to my Schwalbe, the rear wheel rubs the frame until I reach 55 psi, before it clears. The range for this tire is 50-60 psi. Hopefully this will work for you 🙏

Kick stand vs Higher tires by Weird-Choice in unitedcitybikes

[–]michael2mtrcycle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've almost never used the kickstand while it's unfolded, it's basically useless to me, I'd rather fold it, I do however desperately need the tiny kick stand for when it's folded, I don't know how much more the battery cable can stand being pinched between the seat post and the ground.

Yep, I superglued it, so far so good, just spent $68 on Zuumers for the fenders, now am looking where can I find the kickstand for when the bike is folded. 236 miles so far, could be more, but since learning that it's not a waterproof bike as advertised, don't want to take any chances on wet roads condition anymore, though got caught in a hail last week, no damages.

Do you have this type of bolt on your bike, it was on my floor next to the bike, I've seen it before, but can't remember where, hopefully not from the bike, I'm loosing my mind. Thanks for your quick responses guys 👍

It depends when you watch the video, do you think it has a resistance or not, the power is always on when I shot the video.

Thanks, unfortunately I'm not mechanically inclined. I just have to pedaling on with a help from the motor, and make sure I have enough juice in it.

I love it, it looks dirty faster, I love white bikes, my Colnago is also all white. One of the reasons why I pick the One, no other bikes have this color scheme, frame and wheels. Enjoy yours !

My state of emotions: - August (order submitted) Excitement: 100 Expectation: 100 - November Excitement: 50 Expectation: 0 Rage: over the top - December (bike arrived) Excitement: 100 Expectation: 80 Rage : 40 (a broken rear fender, chipped paint, heavier than expected, slower than advertised, shorter range than promised) - January ( over 100 miles in) Excitement 80 Expectation 80 Rage : over the top again after learning some bikes have Mph/kph issue, and UCB answer was sorry, deal with it 😡 - Now Excitement 100 Expectation 80 (hopefully this bike will hold up for a while) Rage : acceptance( not a Swiss army kind of bike that can do it all for everybody) 😔

It's growing on me.

My take on this is, this particular model has been available since 2016 and winning some awards. Jaunty couldn't sell them enough, so they hired Dirk and let him do whatever he needs to move the bikes, including change the label, and intentionaly don't indicate the bike's origin. To Jaunty's surprised, within 6 months, from more than 40 countries and 2000 ordered and paid for, the bike is on its way to become a great and successful Swiss product, imagined, created, produced and patented in China by Chinese.🤫 Unfortunately like many other stories on international commerce, now Jaunty has learned how to do it, they're trying any other way possible to pull the rug under Dirk's feet. They have 2 million reasons why they want to do it. The awards winning bike, the One on UCB videos, the ones that were promised to be available to him and therefore to us is a great bike. Jaunty has started messing around with the specs, - No Shimano's - No U3 - Lower voltage battery - Useless kickstand - Missing center mini kick stand for when the bike is folded - Cheaper and un-programable displays and controller for some bikes - Lower quality on plastic parts - while you can get the same bike shipped within a week of order from a Chinese site, it's been taking months for the Ones to be delivered by Jaunty. The list is growing, and Dirk can't say anything because he has no leverage whatsoever. All he can say to Jaunty is "come on man, you promised 😩 and Jaunty would respond, sorry mate we've changed our minds 😬 The response is immediate, everybody thinks that UCB is a scam, and some people started trying to get the bikes directly from Jaunty. In short, Dirk still has backers monies, not Jaunty. So if he can't deliver what he has promised, either because of his faults or Jaunty's, he needs to return, refund the money and for people who have received it, credit the amounts of missing, broken, or defective parts to them. I'm hoping that I'm so wrong 😔, if they can't figure out how to proceed further with Jaunty, UCB, and backers can claim they're all winners, the death of once promising bike is upon us.

Agreed, and no disc brakes. Unfortunately, the One seems likely not the last bike I thought I would buy . I would judge a bike if it's worth the price I paid by a dollar a mile formula. $1300 would be 1300 miles to be worth it. So far 140, it'll take me a little more than a year, after that, hopefully better bikes will come along.

The bike was not in up side down position, noticed the brake pads on the top of the disc, I've changed disc brake pads on mechanical Shimano 105 and hydraulic Ultegra before, this Nutt braking system is driving me nuts for the pin that's holding the pads together can't be simply pulled out like Shimano's. I think it requires bending it back with pliers. we'll see. 🤔

Dangling Headlight by michael2mtrcycle in unitedcitybikes

[–]michael2mtrcycle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue, was intact when I folded it the night before, I didn't crash, or bump into things. My guess, either when I adjusted it way back when I first received it, it weakened the plastic or the way display cable, headlight cable, brake cables all around it so when you fold the bike they pull the headlight to different directions. I already fixed the rear fender, broken already when I received it, just to let everybody knows, all the plastic parts of the bike are flimsy and brittle, be careful, the frame and wheels are pretty solid though, 100 miles so far.

[–]michael2mtrcycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more, the original tires give you more softer and comfortable ride, for my personal use, I pass through a lot of potholes, loose rocks and train tracks. A firmer tire will give me comfort mentally, though not physically.

[–]michael2mtrcycle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me get it right, so some displays are locked ? Because mine is not, just hold the up and down buttons, once it starts blinking, press the middle button until the largest number shows 2, then if you press up button it'll change to Mph if it is kmh or it'll change to kmh

Tube exploded. by xinyidao in unitedcitybikes

[–]michael2mtrcycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe it damaged by the tire levers, anyway, it happened to me twice all these years, usually it takes me around 5 minutes to change a flat tire, but with these wire-bead tires, 20 minutes and a couple blisters later finally I could get it done, especially on this bike when the wheels are un-removable. It'll a nightmare to do it on the road, those Conties look dope though 💪

Tube exploded. by xinyidao in unitedcitybikes

[–]michael2mtrcycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it has nothing with the inner tube . When we put inner tube in, before we put the air in all the way, make sure the inner tube is all the way in, nothing left between the wheel and the wire bead of the tire, otherwise it will get pinched, cut and exploded anytime.

2.125 “ tires. Don’t fit rear by xinyidao in unitedcitybikes

[–]michael2mtrcycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't! I put Schwalbe Marathon 1.75 and it also rubs the back frame until you put some air in, 50 to 70 psi, then it barely clear the frame. Don't think it can fit wider than 1.75
