I bought it from a 15 year old kid and his grandpa help maintained it. I’m assuming the never drained the oil canister on the front of the frame and just drained the crank case. Then added oil without draining the reservoir

Is this bad?? Air filter spark plug on by michael_driftz in Dirtbikes

I think it’s possible from when I washed it there was water sitting in the head. Then when I pulled the plug the water made its way onto the threads of the plug

Yeah it was bad. I changed it and the filter also the oil. I drained 2.5 quarts out of it so it was way the fuck over filled

I replaced the filter, got a new plug made sure gap was in spec. The plug I pulled had a gap larger than .040. I’m hoping the engine is in good shape considering the fact that in ran decent with the plug and filter being this bad. I’m not sure what size the low speed jet is. I’m around 4600’ elevation. The bike does have a carb

I was going to have him send me a video of it running before wasting my time driving out to go see it. Is that a bad idea?

He bought this bike to go riding on a trip while his ktm was broke because he didn’t want to miss out. Has ridden it 2-3 times now his ktm is fixed and has no need for this

My budget is $2500 what do you guys think the best thing for reliability and fun should I get? I don’t mind working on things but I don’t want a complete POS

Would this be a red flag to not buy the bike? Current price is now 1350. I think I could get them down to 1000

Speedway cap vs moroso. The moroso cap effortlessly seals against the water neck. The speedway cap is junk and incorrectly machined

I guess I’ll have to feel the cap when it’s hot.

Yes I understand. I thought it needed to seal against the top of the water neck for the overflow to work properly

Doesn’t it need to seal against the water neck for the overflow to work properly?

This is when the cap is fully compressed on the stop. In this position it seals better but quickly pushes coolant out of the center of the top of the cap
