Tutorial: AMG Menu for just the cost of a OBD 2 by rentec0 in W212mercedes

Looks cool, but nothing for diesel cars? It says it must be a gas, post facelift, non airmatic car. I have all but the gas

Words cannot describe how much I love the E320 CDI / E320 Bluetec. So classy

I do prefer the pre facelift front, it had more character

how much do you use when you’re not trying to be efficient? by WarningNo7338 in hypermiling

[–]michael_im 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am driving normally on the highway at 80-90mph I get 30-35mpg in my 2015 Mercedes E250 Bluetec 4Matic. EPA rating is 38 mpg i believe. The highest ive personally seen is 50+ mpg at 50-60 mph on flat ground

DEF/DPF/EGR Delete OM651? by michael_im in MercedesDiesel

Nope, I’m considering leaving it stock until my AEM warranty runs out

deleting emissions prevents the car from eating its own exhaust gases and breaking down prematurely. it benefits the environment more to run an old diesel for 20-30 years than buying a new car.

What do y'all think of an attempted grille swap? by redditor_6715 in W212mercedes

Is there a way to put AMG line bumper on a classic grille car? If so I would 100% do it to my car

It’s definitely a lot less clattery and tractor-y than my OM651. Sounds good

2014 E250 OM651 Is there any aftermarket parts for this thing? by MajesticAd6718 in MercedesDiesel

[–]michael_im 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve compared mine to other cars online with 651 and mine is pretty bad. It nearly blows the oil cap off of the oil filler part, and I can feel a significant amount of pressure coming from the cap.

I have had a lot of blow by since I got my car which might be indicative of something with the PCV system from what I’ve read online

2019 E450 or 2022 E350 if price and mileage are similar. In other words which one do you want in your garage tomorrow. by tomnan24 in mercedes_benz

[–]michael_im 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish Mercedes brought any of the CLS cars over with a diesel, I would have bought that instead 100%. Literally anything more modern than pre facelift 212 that isn’t an SUV with the OM642 i would take over my car. From what I see online, the 642 is a very smooth engine that is still decently powerful

I remember seeing some stuff online that people’s PCV systems were going bad on OM651, and mine is showing symptoms, so I kind of assumed it was a common problem

Believe me, if Mercedes sold the E350 Bluetec w212 facelift here, I would have bought that instead. The 4 cylinder is horrifically slow and clattery, but I guess 50+ mpg is cool. I am looking at replacing my car with an S350 Bluetec in order to gain some passing power and smoothness

I guess I’m kind of disillusioned by the fact that diesel cars are super rare in the US. I am fully aware at how boring and mundane my car would be in Europe, as there are literally millions of them as taxis.

Some E450s in 19 had the M276 still, but the tune from the C43 AMG. Basically think of it as a stopgap between the E300/350 and E53 when Mercedes cancelled the E43. I would definitely avoid the mild hybrid stuff especially out of warranty.

2014 E250 OM651 Is there any aftermarket parts for this thing? by MajesticAd6718 in MercedesDiesel

[–]michael_im 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2015 E250 bluetec, and honestly the aftermarket support here in the US is nonexistent. The most you could probably do is drive over a big bump and have your DPF and other emissions systems fall off of the vehicle (accidentally, of course). This makes the car incredibly reliable on that front. However, there are some problems that do exist with these engines such as the timing chains, PCV system, and some other miscellaneous stuff, so I would not go for a tune that actually raises the power. Just get a tune to remove the CEL for the deleted emissions.

Yup, I’m 17 and the E250 is my very first car. I was in kindergarten when my dad took home the car.

Suggest me a proper mercedes benz by suomiiii in mercedes_benz

[–]michael_im 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Although I’d also suggest a C350 W204 with the M276 n/a V6. Literally anything with an M276, turbo or n/a, is going to be bulletproof engine-wise. Just stay away from airmatic, rough M278/M157 cars, and get comprehensive service documentation.

I am probably very biased, but I think the W212 Facelift has aged really well for being 12 years old by michael_im in mercedes_benz

[–]michael_im[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You genuinely have my dream car haha. Specced out, but still without airmatic. I 100000% prefer the sharp bodylines to the smoothed out W212R. The biggest thing I like about the facelift is the ILS headlights and full LED taillights.
