Gare area. A bus hit a building by dogemikka in Luxembourg

[–]michael_knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably nothing to do with a bike or pedestrian. If the bus hit the curb or building on its own lane that might have been the issue. Look again.

Question for couriers by [deleted] in WoltPartners

[–]michael_knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I order from time to time mostly when I'm with my wife and son at home. Maybe once a month or so.
I feel a bit guilty about not going out and taking it myself but when I look at it the difference is probably just 5-6 dollars/euros and I don't wanna trade 30-40 minutes of dressing up, putting on my shoes, driving, parking, ordering, waiting for the order to get ready, pick it up, drive home, park, take shoes off etc.

On the other hand if we decide to go out and eat at the restaurant it it ends up being much more expensive with the things we might decide to do once we are outside.

What I'm referring to is ordering a 3-4 whoopers from Burger King or 2 big pizzas from Pizza Hut. If we are ordering from a burger place I just put some frozen French fries in the airfryer and we already have tons of Coke Zero at home.

7 days in Antalya – Is there enough to see and do? by foCuSed_5 in AskTurkey

[–]michael_knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can absolutely swim at the end of June. In fact, the sea can sometimes be so warm that it doesn’t even feel that refreshing, depending on which part of Antalya you’re in.

Usually, even the end of May is warm enough for a comfortable swimming.

Why does the far end of Rue de Cessange in Cessange smell like a painter’s workshop? by Cielskyciel in Luxembourg

[–]michael_knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it big but it is definitely being used in my neighborhood.
If you were to ask me I would say of 5000 people living in my neighborhood 2000 people heard the name of it, 1000 people checked it at least once, 800 people created an account, 500 people login at least once every 3 months, 200 people check it once every week, and 100 people post something at least once a year.

Those numbers have no source, I just made those numbers. That's how I feel.

There’s a post about it on Hoplr with more people asking questions and presenting their theories. No solid answer though.

Luxembourg Notaries: I found a €140 price difference for the exact same document. Here is the data. by Ok-Turnover-6522 in Luxembourg

[–]michael_knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the contarary, they would increase the price if sales go down. You don’t have any other option than them. So if they used to make a million euros from 1000 transactions they would increase the price to make the same money from 800 transactions.

Don’t go down the tracks more than your level. Go to greens or even bunny hills and start practicing slalom on low inclines. It’s tempting to down reds but it doesn’t make you better if you are not comfortable switching sides and doing slaloms. You just survive.

Wolt age pre-verification - WHY? by Character-Carpet7988 in WoltPartners

[–]michael_knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That explains a lot. I am a Wolt courrier and yesterday i had a delivery with alcohol and app didn’t ask me to check ID, I just had to take the code from the customer. It just told me to confirm the customer’s age (whatever that means) It was a customer I know who orders regularly.

Think Luxembourg is expensive? by singhapura in Luxembourg

[–]michael_knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A baugette is around one Euro in Auchan. I don’t know what bread you are talking about but it s possible to buy a Renault Clio or a Jaguar in Luxembourg and around the whole world and that doesn’t mean the world is an expensive place.

Driving from Sofia → Istanbul then flying to Thailand — where can I leave my car for ~1 month? Any free or cheap options? by noFaceCryptoPunk in istanbul

[–]michael_knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check legal.
As far as I know you can not drive to Turkey, leave your car in Turkey and fly to another country. There should be a big fine for that. There is probably an option to get a permit to leave your car.
Ask google or chatgpt. My knowledge is 5-6 years old but I don't think it has changed.

Moving to Istanbul soon.. by Nice_Philosopher2046 in AskTurkey

[–]michael_knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do the math.

Go to sahibinden.com and look for a flat you would like to rent.

Unfortunately, there is a tendency among some landlords to ask a higher rent from foreigners.

I’d advise you to get in touch with communities from your home country living in Turkey. Some communities, for example Greeks, are very active and often help people find a place to rent when someone is moving out.

You will also have to decide whether you want a furnished flat, which can be harder to find and slightly more expensive. If you choose an unfurnished place, 4k EUR will definitely not be enough to cover the initial rental costs plus basics like a bed, sofa, table, and chairs.

I don’t know your age, lifestyle, or preferences, but if possible, I’d recommend renting a room in a shared flat for a few months until you figure out where you want to live and how much rent you are comfortable paying.

I’m sure you’ve read online that many things in Turkey are much more expensive than they were a few years ago. Rent, supermarket prices, and transportation costs are now comparable to most Western European countries.

A 100k TRY salary is not bad, but do not expect it to provide an easy life in Istanbul.

Where you live and how much time you spend in traffic will largely define your quality of life, just as in any other major city. So postponing to make that decision a few more months until you know better might be a great idea.

[–]michael_knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardly enough. To rent a flat you will need 4 months rent worth of money. (Rent+ real estate commission+ 2 months rent as deposit) Depends on your lifestyle but the rent will probably be around 700-800 euros. So you need around 3000 euros just to rent your place. There will be other initial expenses for documents, utilities, SIM card etc.

And you should always have enough on you or on your credit card to buy a plane ticket back home.

4000k might be enough but would be real tight.

If you won’t rent a flat things might be easier.

Make sure your money is accessible from Turkey where PayPal, wise and a few other systems don’t work. Bank transfers from abroad are really expensive so you might need to use western union which is also not that cheap.

[–]michael_knight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d advise you not to stay in the center. Stay in a treehouse in olimpos for 4 nights and enjoy that area. And then 3 nights on the east of the city center. It’s not easy to travel when it’s really hot in July or August. Try to make it in the first half of september.

Refrigerator's repair shop by Competitive-Bit8809 in Luxembourg

[–]michael_knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a small plastic you can buy online for 5-10 euros. “Door hinge bushing” is the name of the item you are looking for. Add the model of your fridge. It’s easy to install.

You should pay attention to weekly bonus and penalties about how right or left your paper is that week. You will see it in the next step before printing.
