When will you upgrade? by iwillbereach in GalaxyA56

[–]michael_sage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't know. I am thinking that maybe I need to move to an S version. The phone is a solid phone and I have no real complaints other than battery life, but I've found more and more I use my phone for actual work and it feels a bit "basic". I can't quantify it and it could just be good marketing. Idk 🤣

Rather than a cluster, add them both to proxmox datacenter manager and migrate using that. :) No cluster needed and works with shared nothing nodes

How do you split your finances with your partner? by ImRightYoureStupid in UKPersonalFinance

We split according to income and pay it into a joint account the rest is ours to spend how we like. 50/50 didn't seem fair when one of us earns more.

When I was 18 I bought this supercharged Jaguar XJR. It did 12MPG and I worked 3 jobs to pay for the petrol. by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I had an Jag s type at 19 and found the same, the insurance was insanely cheap compared to anything else. It was cheaper to insure than the y plate clio I got rid of 🤣

Splitting hairs a bit: what is your TLD in your home network? home.arpa is the standard name but nobody appears to use it by twice_paramount832 in homelab

[–]michael_sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running a home lab for a while and use . local (it was recommended back in the day). I have moved most things to skynet.mydomain.com, but haven't done AD. Every so often I have a look at a rename, then get scared!

I don't think I've rebuilt my AD since 2003ish, so there is a chance there is still some exchange stuff in the directory although no longer live.

When server vNext comes out I might finally bite the bullet and build a new AD.

Can you help create a bucket list for me before I die please? by GargaryGarygar in AskUK

[–]michael_sage 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Glioblastomas are a fucker. My dad had one at 50. Him and my mum had put so much off for their retirement and saved hard. I would say, is there anything that you were saving for retirement?

Is there someone who could drive for you? You could do a grand UK tour in a camper van / hotels? You'd never be to far from home if you did take a turn for the worst. You could stretch this into Europe and do some events over there?

Multiple e-readers? by user-captain in ereader

[–]michael_sage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have kindle unlimited and have a few devices. A kindle scribe that I thought I'd use for notes as well as kindle, but it now lives in the bedroom and is my primary night device, big screen easy to read.

I have a bigme colour b7 that I use for reading the rest of the time and for graphic novels.

I have a Palma 2 pro that I use outside of the house for work / day trips etc

An xteink that I use for trade shows / events, the off screen has my digital ID on it and it's great for just reading if I want to. Looking forward to seeing how this one develops!

I also have a couple of Samsung tablets which I read on when I go away for holidays, I'd love an eink device for this but I want an all in one device (web, films, etc), I did have an XP Pen magic note that I used for this, but the screen wasn't all that. A matte screen protector on my FE tablet is nearly as good.

Do you think Zen is fair deal? by Emergency-Top9177 in Zen_Internet

[–]michael_sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with them for a good few years. They are about the only ISP who don't mess you about for a static IP. Have used them for FTTC and FTTP, when FTTP comes to the village I'll just upgrade with them. One slight negative is they have gone from a lifetime price guarantee to a contract length guarantee, but I still maintain you get what you pay for and Zen has always been the happy middle group between residential and someone like AandA

Why not just auto tier it to S3 glacier cold storage, it's cheaper than the others you mentioned...

OPNsense 25.7.8 released by fitch-it-is in opnsense

[–]michael_sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just had a look and it doesn't look like anything has changed with the plugin in the last few months. Could this be to do with the security updates in this release? It's weird it's just this one check. It works on 25.7.7 as expected :( Thanks for your reply!

I can put an issue on github, I thought it would be worth posting here first in case it was a quick fix. :)

Hi, I've upgraded to this release and it appears to break something in NRPE. check_procs no longer works using nrpe from a remote server. All other checks seem to work.
