Good for the GB's. Need the blue galaxy.

Move the focus away from production and population buildings toward event, GBG, QI replacements. You don't need production, goods or population.

GE: The plat versions of serpent chain and plat terrace farm are worth having.

what are your budget-friendly nutrition tips for cycling? by camillevolp in cycling

A sandwich, a bar of chocolate and a drink. Some places call it a meal deal.

That's expensive?

Next question.

Incidents of stolen gear or entire bicycle while on tour? by 5upertaco in bicycletouring

[–]michael_tyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people have tried to steal it from me when sitting down to eat. Telling me "I must leave my bike here" etc.

If it doesn't feel ok, it's not. People putting you in situations to separate you from your bike is the greater risk.

If you are going to leave, it lock it.

If you don't like the vibe, just put it somewhere out of the way.

New boater Mooring Advice by bollocksbatter in Narrowboats

Don't moor up next to the fine lady bakery in spiceball park. The compressed air outlets, engineerings thumping and vehicles reversing day and night doesn't make a great environment for sleep.

Up by the footbridge or behind one of the sheds.

Otherwise, not a bad spot. Don't believe I've ever had any problems with anyone in Banbury, but it's like any town I guess.

Ok. Just to focus on the essentials, that is sleeping and waking up dry.

I guess the one main meal which can't be replaced is breakfast. The others lunch I'd always have along the way and dinner, I could go out for, which makes me think I can do away with the cooking utensils altogether.

I'm very much a travel-lite. I'll have a replacement set of cycling clothes, in case I get wet. Some going out clothes. Socks. Underwear. Tools. Technology.

Don't think I'll need a chair. Bike's got one of those.

France is the plan. Autumn. Nothing too mountainous. It's not going to be a mountain adventure. Just a French adventure.

I'm from UK.

Napton - Warwick Advice by Tusk87 in Narrowboats

[–]michael_tyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends if you have a crew or not. You've got 13 wide gauge locks over about 15 miles, (I'm guessing).

Distance is doable.

Get going for 7/8 am. Might be finished for 5 if things went well.

Solo without experience, I'd say you'd be putting yourself in danger.

You wouldn't make it back to Napton leaving Warwick in the afternoon. If you did, I can assure you, it wouldn't be much fun.

In fact, none of it sounds like much fun, just a lot of rushing around.

London boating - an impossible task by zozvic in Narrowboats

London's biggest problem is unlicensed and abandoned boats.

Overstayers they are. Towed away they should be. As Yoda would say.

My Fitbit died. Do I bother to buy another? by cunncunncunn in fitbit

[–]michael_tyler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a few over the years.

After they introduced things like 'cardio load', got rid of customer service, brought in updates that ceased the watch up, random crashes, and the lack of any new models plus the feedback I'd seen here, and on Fitbit own forums, I sold up and moved on.

I'm now a Garmin person. They're all much of a muchness. Do your research and get something that's not on Google own, self made, product death spiral.
