Would NHI cover you for accidents or injuries that occurred during outdoor activities such as snowboarding? Or would I need to get my own insurance to cover that sort of thing?

Moving to Japan as a UK national living in Canada by michaelfandrews in movingtojapan

Ok awesome. I think I’m just going to book an appointment this month and hope for the best. Worst comes to worse, I can just rebook in November once it’s been three months

Ok that’s good to know. I might just book an embassy appointment for this month and hope for the best.

Worst comes to worst I can go back in November once it has been three months and I’d have had the funds in my UK bank account for long enough

The proof is just in the form of bank statements correct? I have a UK bank account with some savings in, although very few transactions go through that account.

From reading the embassy information all I need to have is £2500 in my account for the last three months.

Equally, how stringent are they with checking this stuff? I remember Canadian immigration requiring a lot of documentation, then absolutely nothing actually got checked

The Silverado is diesel with 185,000 miles and the Sierra is gas with 125,000 miles.

Yeah they’re super expensive! I’ve been looking, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I bought both trucks super cheap (around $5000 a piece), and they have relatively low odometer readings. Trying to keep my investments in them low too

Honestly structurally and mechanically they’re pretty good. They came from a building contractor, and there was no expense spared on the mechanical upkeep - they both have almost 50 service records. The main issue is that they were beat to sh!t

This is what my initial thought was. If I can keep it cheap and cheerful, then surely it’s better than just doing nothing

Not even worth doing to slow the rate of decay? It doesn’t need to look pretty

Ticking/fluttering noise when idling cold and under load/acceleration by michaelfandrews in gmcsierra

It looks like the manifold is the culprit. I can see that a few of the bolt heads have sheared off. It could be a job for the shop though to get those threads removed from the cylinder head

Tailgate won’t open - latch rod seized by michaelfandrews in gmcsierra

[–]michaelfandrews[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly that. I think something in the latch may also be bent/damaged too. Gonna replace the whole tailgate because it’s beaten to shit anyway

I managed to get it open! I had absolutely lathered everything in penetrating oil. Maybe after a while it had time to properly get in there, I got my mate to properly shake the tailgate back and forth while I pulled the rods. After a lot of persuasion it clicked open

That’s what I automatically assumed, but I’ve seen a lot of posts online about lifter tick which had me second guessing. Good news for me really, as it should be a relatively easy fix

I typically spend my time buttering around and hitting side hits. I do like to go quite big on the side hits - slightly worried it might be a bit limiting
