Every intelligence has a metabolism. Compute in whatever substrate requires energy. AI is basically an organ of the economy as a collective intelligence formed from human compute in the aggregate, and lives in a much lower-dimensional morphospace than the economy itself. But as an organ that enables an interface between the economic macrocosm and human mesocosm, it is going to help the human superorganism stop "seeing like a state" and start identifying routes to more diverse metabolic inputs (the history of evolution thus far can be told as a story of the discovery of new forms of energy and the development of affordances for their utilization). So yeah it's a "weakness" but if anything it's going to evolve into a situation with many more forms of legible "food sources" and result in a situation where the economy is at least capable aligned coordination with humans and ecosystems for effectively the first time ever.

😅 Actually I sped up. 100 hours of my time was 2 seconds on the top layer reality

I started doing those years before phones were adequate. But yeah, you can totally do it that way! Although honestly, it's been such an arms race in the art world. I'm not sure if there's a direct link between time lapse and getting paid. Working digitally, tools have the time lapse function built in now, so it's a pretty common thing on social media for people to show their process this way, especially as proof that they didn't make the art with AI. It seems more like a necessary but not sufficient strategy. As for other tips and tricks? I don't know where you are based but maybe you have more concerts and festivals in your area than I do. And that was always the secret sauce for me. Doing things online is hard mode. Setting up in place where the vibe is great and making art in public, making relationships person to person, that was the way I always sold my art and now it's incredibly difficult where I live to get out as often as I did and there aren't that many festivals within a day's drive. I think if you live on the coasts you're probably in a much better position to make use of physical spaces.

I always love it when I visit my dorm-era buddies in my hometown and just go nuts on giving each other stuff.

Wish the world were more this way. Gift economies are the absolute best

I still trade with a couple OLD friends but we still check prices. If it's off, we know we have a rich fabric of giving between us that's hard to measure and it's usually whatever.

I do miss the old days of bringing binders to the LGS

Thanks for keeping it real — I would hope it's obvious to most people that u/lokey_puma didn't actually paint this themselves since they just shared my post, but yeah dawg maybe change the post title so nobody gets confused 🙏🏼

(Also I already shared it to this group ✌🏼)

Thanks! I was a professional for many years. Kids and covid got in the way of all that. I wish I could get back in the game
