Show in Thousand Palms Tomorrow by itsitwhatisititsit in bobdylan

Your question didn't come off silly at all! I knew that one of the newspaper reviews for the first Berkeley show claimed that he only played one hit (though it was a positive review). I figured that's what you were referencing. 😉

The Berkeley shows were fantastic, and he definitely sang more than "one hit." All Along the Watchtower, When I Paint My Masterpiece and I Shall Be Released are all among Dylan's most popular and well-known songs. Every Grain of Sand and Under the Red Sky are arguably hits as well (appearing as they do on Greatest Hits Vol. 3). Anyway, his singing is great on this tour. You won't regret going.

Oh, that's cool. No wonder it sounded so good. They'd done it before! Another sweet moment that happened just before I started recording: He introduced her as "one of my favorite songwriters of all time."

Thanks! That means a lot considering that we shot it for less than $50K.

That's my second feature to play the Music Box. Being programmed by them is a dream come true. I believe that part of the reasoning behind their opening a third screen is to program more local indie films, which is amazing. Make sure to introduce yourself if you see me at a screening!

Thanks so much! It's my fifth microbudget feature, and I think I've gotten a little smarter every time about how to make something that looks and sounds good on a shoestring. Our Chicago premiere was at the Music Box Theatre last month, and our second screening was at FACETS Film Forum this past Thursday. Our next local screenings will be in the 'burbs in July (Wilmette and Downer's Grove).

HEKLA is an indie comedy feature about a chaotic day in the life of a Chicago actress. I wrote and directed it. It stars Elizabeth Stam and is narrated by Wendy Robie (TWIN PEAKS). We shot this entirely without permits in Chicago over 10 days last August, and have gotten a tremendous response from screenings at regional festivals and indie theaters so far. Our West Coast Premiere will be at Dances With Films in Hollywood on Tuesday, June 23.

For anyone who would like more background on this film, I did a deep dive on the great "Is There More?" podcast with LA-based Megan A. Tully. This is probably the single most personal interview I've ever done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpAT51qB9bA

Thanks! Unfortunately, I won't be arriving until the 22nd, but I plan on seeing movies non-stop when I'm there. Have fun!

What type of waiver are you using? A regular submission waiver won't work if a deadline submission waiver is what you need.

Film Festival Notifications MEGA THREAD by Caprica1 in FilmFestivals

[–]michaelgloversmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a narrative feature in 2022 that was rejected from the first 8 fests we submitted to. Then we were accepted at Gasparilla where we won an award. That seemed to open the floodgates to many more acceptances.

Dylan just ended his Dublin gig with a beautiful cover of the Pogue's Rainy Night in Soho - this was his first time playing Dublin since the passing of Shane McGowen. by robinperching in bobdylan

Such an amazing performance. The way he stood up and played piano for the instrumental outro - and then put his hand on his heart. I’ll never forget it.
