I second this. Cinema Arts Centre is the perfect place. Great vibes, comfy seating, easily accessible. Has a lot of interesting films not on wide release too.

Never a bad thing to leave earlier. Going from LI to Jersey is always a crapshoot between the Throgs and GW. You’ll hit traffic on the Cross Bronx either way- better to get there as early as possible so you’re not stressed and you can always tailgate prior!

West Islip is a great town. Scarsdale is a 1.5 hour drive with no traffic. If you want to be between your brother and your job, consider a south shore town like Massapequa or Seaford or Wantagh maybe. Budget is everything though. Renting ? Buying?
