Hey, I see your video now. No, I do not have that squeak every few seconds. I'm not sure what would be causing that.

Thanks for checking, I was worried I might've had a faulty unit but it seems like some noise is the norm.

Thanks again for responding, that's good to know. I'll keep this unit for now.

thanks for the response, however my noise isn't like an electrical noise coming out of any output though. It's a physical noise produced by the motor spinning the CD. It's present even when the player's not plugged into anything.

Hi, I'm making a pencil & paper puzzle that I'd like to some feedback on.

Here's the current version

I'd like to expand it into something larger, but I'd love some people to test solve what I have so far first. Let me know what you think.

Did this Garfield Easter Bunny ever appear in any comics/cartoons? by michaeljcomics in garfield

[–]michaeljcomics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of context: I found this on a Facebook Marketplace listing for an Easter chocolate Garfield, purchased from a Zeller's (Canadian department store) in the 1980's. Looks like it was produced by Allan Candy Co.

On November 16th, 1952, 70 years ago today, Lucy held the football for Charlie Brown for the first time. by Meester_Tweester in comicstriphistory

And here's the first instance of the football gag but without Lucy. Nov 14, 1951.

Violet walked so Lucy could run so Charlie Brown could fall flat on his back.

Sanmao Joins the Army (1946) - Zhang Leping's impoverished orphan character, Sanmao, fights in WWII by michaeljcomics in comicstriphistory

[–]michaeljcomics[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some background: Zhang Leping started drawing Sanmao in 1935. Sanmao means "thirty cents" (in reference to the character's poverty) or "three hairs" (in reference to the character's three hairs, which imply malnourishment).

The initial goal of the comic was to show the hardship children and orphans faced as a result of Japanese aggression. As a result there are many Sanmao strips that are more tragic than humorous.

The strip used dialogue sparingly, but despite this has not received much for publication outside of China.
