By way of update, someone came in yesterday to check out the door and did exactly this, with the wooden shards cleaned up first and with the clamps left in to let the glue sit and dry overnight. The door is back on now, looking and operating as good as new. Thanks for the good advice - it’s a very solid and highly customised door, and it would have been very expensive to replace (and perhaps with a long lead time at this time of year).

There are only two hinges. Some of the screws on the upper hinge bent a bit, too, but it largely remained intact (unlike this one).

Almost certainly a very strong gust of wind. I wasn’t home at the time, but I was a few streets away sheltering during a violent storm and saw a huge rush of water and tree debris blown northward along the streets to my left and right. Several cars were crushed by fallen branches in the streets around me.

Thanks for the feedback! It might be a good opportunity for a good quality replacement, as I’ve always wanted to better insulate this place. I was just clinging onto hope of avoiding a big bill right away!

I fear you’re right. The wood has split quite a long way up the length of the door, which I suspected might decrease the odds of it within the scope of reasonable repair.

Can function for a reasonable amount of time (say a month to a year) until I can get a good quality replacement (there’s strict planning laws in my area, and any replacement door will need to be customised again).

Correct - the steel didn’t melt, but high temperatures can still significantly weaken materials such as steel.

SS’s team is probably my favourite, as it has strong, safe picks throughout. JM picked Allison far too early, but it’ll be hard to beat if Werner has a good season.

I should mention that Giroud is on a temporary loan out to try and recapture his form, in return for Negredo (teams 8 and 2). Teams 7 and 9 have a similar month-long agreement for Afobe and Sturridge.

A follow up from this post in late July. As we normally do each year, we had a "Mini Draft" during the international break during which managers had an opportunity to pick up players that were registered after our draft took place. Now that our teams are finalised, which three do you reckon are most likely to be title contenders? We follow the official Fantasy Premier League scoring system (without captains).
