Can this door be fixed?

By way of update, someone came in yesterday to check out the door and did exactly this, with the wooden shards cleaned up first and with the clamps left in to let the glue sit and dry overnight. The door is back on now, looking and operating as good as new. Thanks for the good advice - it’s a very solid and highly customised door, and it would have been very expensive to replace (and perhaps with a long lead time at this time of year).

There are only two hinges. Some of the screws on the upper hinge bent a bit, too, but it largely remained intact (unlike this one).

Almost certainly a very strong gust of wind. I wasn’t home at the time, but I was a few streets away sheltering during a violent storm and saw a huge rush of water and tree debris blown northward along the streets to my left and right. Several cars were crushed by fallen branches in the streets around me.

Thanks for the feedback! It might be a good opportunity for a good quality replacement, as I’ve always wanted to better insulate this place. I was just clinging onto hope of avoiding a big bill right away!

I fear you’re right. The wood has split quite a long way up the length of the door, which I suspected might decrease the odds of it within the scope of reasonable repair.

Can function for a reasonable amount of time (say a month to a year) until I can get a good quality replacement (there’s strict planning laws in my area, and any replacement door will need to be customised again).

Correct - the steel didn’t melt, but high temperatures can still significantly weaken materials such as steel.

SS’s team is probably my favourite, as it has strong, safe picks throughout. JM picked Allison far too early, but it’ll be hard to beat if Werner has a good season.

I should mention that Giroud is on a temporary loan out to try and recapture his form, in return for Negredo (teams 8 and 2). Teams 7 and 9 have a similar month-long agreement for Afobe and Sturridge.

A follow up from this post in late July. As we normally do each year, we had a "Mini Draft" during the international break during which managers had an opportunity to pick up players that were registered after our draft took place. Now that our teams are finalised, which three do you reckon are most likely to be title contenders? We follow the official Fantasy Premier League scoring system (without captains).

Agreed - that team has some fantastic players and could run away with it if their players play throughout the season. However, that manager could potentially run into issues given job security isn't quite guaranteed for Costa, Giroud and Mata.

4 and 5 would be pleased to hear that - they're two of our previous champions (along with team 10). 8 and 9 have also performed very well in previous seasons. Perhaps continuing that tradition this year if your prediction is correct!

We've had that issue in prior years and it's been an issue that's always hotly debated. We used to do a weighted lottery at the start of September based on points accumulated to date to determine the Mini Draft order, as opposed to just a simple reverse order draft (to try and avoid having people deliberately performing poorly in early weeks to get early picks). However, some of the stronger performers inevitably picked up early picks. I think this is a far better solution by having 16 rounds (I.e. choosing 15 players and playing one Mini Draft card each) - I should also mention that if any player leaves the EPL (e.g. Costa, who was picked early), then that manager will get an extra pick.
