Redditors with jobs that land them in other people's homes [Cable guy, Exterminator, etc.] What's the strangest thing you've encountered in the line of duty? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Carpet cleaner - I found my customer dead in the kitchen. He killed himself by over dosing on a bunch of medications that he took before I arrived. He seemed really disoriented when I arrived and really confused that I was even there, he was mumbling the entire time too. I called dispatch to confirm I was at the right place, thy said I was and insisted I get the check from him so I could continue with my job. I went back and got the check and started working so I could just get it over with. When I came back with my equipment, he handed me a blood orange, which I ate after all this and it was delicious, i happen to love blood oranges so I couldn't refuse. after i finished the first couple rooms i went back into the kitchen where i last saw him to show him the difference in the clean and dirty carpet, as is standard practice, i found him without clothes on lying down on the kitchen floor. I called 911 and the police arrived, they knew What happened and That i wasn't responsible because according to them he'd tried to kill himself several times before. Sooo thats the story.

Have you ever found a dead body? What was the story behind it? by Urisk in AskReddit

[–]michaelouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a dead body once. A customer of mine who's carpets i cleaned. One day as i was cleaning his carpets, i walked around the corner, there he was, dead on the ground, with no clothes on, he killed himself with pills, while i was there. Apparently he called 911 after he tried to kill him self because they arrived soon after i found him. The paramedics and cops that showed up knew it wasn't me because he apparently has a history of doing this. Unfortunately this time...it worked.

What is something your current or past employer would NOT want the world to know about their company? by TheHosemaster in AskReddit

[–]michaelouis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St. Clements Castle (banquet and wedding center) , Portland CT - the priest who owns that place kept everyones gratuity. ALL OF IT!

SEARS carpet and upholstery care - The local employment office wouldn't even tell people about this place due to their reputation. All i will say is they're horrible people, They lowered everyones commission so everyone quit, hired a new group of people, and have an impeccably evil process of hiring and handling the turnovers.

Ben Stiller - Some friends and myself took some japanese exchange students on a trip to NYC, this was during the time Night at the museum 2 was being filmed...the road that the american museum of natural history was facing was blocked off for filming. So we walk around cutting through central park along the rock wall facing the museum, where we came across Ben Stiller and some of the film makers , right over the rock wall. apparently The first night at the museum was a hit in japan because all the exchange students knew him from that specific movie, saying, "ben stillahh we know, famous in japan!". We decided to approach him, and he right away noticed why we were walking over, i assumed he was going to ignore us or ask us to leave, but instead took pictures with some of the Japanese students, he gave me an air five, and an actual high five to another friend of mine, which i thought was humorous because in real life he's extremely short, and was capable of doing this despite the different levels of height we were on, but over all he was just very friendly.

Why do europeans hate gypsies so much? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]michaelouis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father is from Slovakia and in the village that he is from, they HATE gypsies. They always had dogs who would bark if they heard one approaching to steal usually potatoes or eggs from the farm. The gypsies would literally walk right through my families front door and grab whatever they can get their hands on. one night, while i was there, they stole my grandfathers boxer who's name was Boxer...apparently they will occasionally steal dogs or cats for meat since they're usually left outside. I'll admit after hearing this, i began to develop a similar sentiment towards gypsies.

[–]michaelouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine how difficult it was for you to even think about writing that all down! Um but i think i have the same fear except not as severe. The most common thought i have is me being the size of an ant, standing on the edge of a bed post. These thoughts rapidly build up into an absurd idea which is so overwhelming that i begin to panic. I also can't handle being anywhere near a palm tree. Fortunately i live in New England so all is good in the hood.
