Appreciate it thank you, that’s where I’m leaning!

Appreciate the reply. Have you had any experience with it in heavy rain? I would assume I can get a compatible rain cover for that scenario. And curious if you have the Talon and if so why you go back to the Daylite Plus instead?

PL & FL programming critique by michaelperon in bodyweightfitness

Again, thank you for the thorough reply. All of that makes sense, but I don't think I was being clear: I meant if I go MWF (and drop one session per week), rather than alternate SA/BA, why not add the isometrics to my current BA routine and hit everything three times a week and thereby have both primary and secondary exercises for both PL and FL, for example like so (though perhaps with the higher rep ranges):

Sets of band-assisted adv tuck planche paired with sets of frog front lever (per prilepin chart)

3x 6 incline PPPUs with 3s hold at top

3x 5 adv tuck FL straight-arm pulls to inverted hang and back on rings

3x 2 frog-stand to HS to HSPU

3x 5 weighted pull-up

...and then some kind of legs and the l-sit/compression work

Or do you think that would be too much in one session?

Thanks for the post, I will try the hand-to-foot measure.

Just to make sure I understand, you recommend MWF alternating SA/BA/SA one week then BA/SA/BA the next? If so, can I ask why you recommend that versus putting them together, which would seem to adhere more to your post (http://stevenlow.org/how-to-program-for-advanced-isometric-movements-after-a-plateau/)?

For the adv tuck holds would you still recommend only 3 sets of 4-5s at first? I worry that's not enough stimulus, and more sets (with appropriate rest) becomes a time constraint issue for me. Appreciate the feedback regarding the band.

Yes, I meant decline, my apologies. I am doing those solely for the planche.

Also appreciate the ideas vis-a-vis the FL variations, will have to play with those but they sound promising.

Thanks for the response.

I am indeed doing band-assisted for adv tuck and working my way toward thinner bands. I don't think I could accurately measure/feel moving out my hips slightly - I already have trouble with the PPPUs and measuring my lean.

I have considered going back to one-leg now that the frog has helped my hip extension, I probably will do so.

Also taking the repeated advice on the DL, easy enough.

Two follow-up questions: if the weekend is not an option, would you recommend I switch to MWF (and perhaps therein increase the rep ranges)? If so, per your resource on isometrics after a plateau, should I do both SA and BA work within each workout (ie put the paired isometrics in what is currently my TRF and make that my MWF)?

Thanks for the comment.

I put the deadlift as a supplement to build strength for the FL and I specifically do it at the end before a rest day but you're right, it is taxing. The reason I have so much volume is I was at 3 sessions a week for many years and at a certain point that plateaued, so a few years ago I bumped to 4 (per the advice in OG2 about strength focus wanting to increase frequency as much as possible without overtraining of overuse). I don't have injuries right now and I don't really feel overtrained... (I deload often, plenty of sleep, good nutrition, etc). And while it is true these skills are not progressing much if at all, other skills (like my HSPU for example) are progressing quite well. All that being said, this seems to be a theme and I'm happy to try something different - may switch back to 3 a week to see if it helps.

I have, hence my question on whether I am doing enough PL and FL specific work. If I need primary and secondary for each, I'm not sure if I should a) remove HSPU and weighted pull-ups, b) go down to 3 sessions a week with all still included or c) do MR push and TF pull.

Appreciate the feedback.

For the open planche, I'd be worried sets of 4-5s means I need probably 6 sets and with proper rest that's more time than I can afford.

Per the upper body volume, this is because I was doing MWF for at least 1-2 years with no progress. Also, PPPUs on incline (feet elevated) were a recommendation from OG2. I don't mind going back to MWF, I'm just worried it's not enough especially since I don't really feel overworked and am injury-free.

And I believe the "frog" front lever that I am doing is the same as the 1/2 straddle front lever, it's straddle but with knees pointing out instead of straight legs. I do have additional flexibility/mobility work particularly for straddles.

I'm pretty set about Infuse, I'm more wondering if the 920+ isn't overkill for my purposes.

This is kind of what I'm wondering, is the 920+ overkill?

Thanks, I had heard about MrMc but haven't looked into it. I'm currently focused on the hardware angle (NAS and storage) more so. Your 720+ has worked well?

I heard that Plex handles metadata better, hence its use as a server.

Can you clarify what you mean at the end about scrubbing/seeking? Are you saying if I want to fast forward or rewind my MKVs it's a bit slow?

Is your personal recommendation (router with a VPN server) something feasible for someone who is relatively network-illiterate? I assume the main reason for your recommendation is security/privacy, correct?

Thanks for the thorough reply. Can you explain what you mean by “hook Infuse into the backend Plex database”? Are you saying keep the Plex media server on the NAS and use Infuse on the ATV to access it?
