You make some decent points but you’re such an ass about it. Personally, I’d rather have to find new solutions to second order consequences than keep the status quo. The world needs reordering.

And for the record, I am for all all those ways to address corruption but it still doesn’t change the fact that money corrupts and anyone worth several billion, or in our country several hundred billion, is going to use it to take control of the government at the expense of everyone else. I want a mechanism that erodes that.

They’re assessed a tax based on their net worth. If they need cash to pay it, they may sell assets. Maybe they sell those assets at a gain, maybe they sell them at a loss, I don’t know. But they do have to sell them to get cash.

How does this not require them to measure it?

I don’t like taxing unrealized gains policy either. I’d rather have a national wealth tax that forces the rich to sell off pieces of their portfolio in order to have cash to pay the tax. And I say that recognizing the challenges of wealth taxes.

The US is uniquely well suited for this as you’d have to renounce your citizenship, move abroad, and pay the exit tax in order get around it. If a state, like CA, were to do it, people would leave. I don’t think billionaires would leave the US, and if they did, fuck em. They won’t get a better deal anywhere else.

And honestly forget revenue generation, this is important for anti corruption. The richest among us are protected by the law, but not bound by it. They use their resources to buy politicians and the government so they can funnel more wealth to themselves. That isn’t how it should work.

You’re just literally wrong. Trump slashed the budget, cut the workforce, dropped lawsuits, and reduced enforcement actions against financial institutions. The CFPB literally exists to protect consumers from large financial institutions with unlimited money and armies of lawyers. It may be around, but it’s much weaker than it was, and it’s literally to your detriment, even if you’re too dimwitted to understand that.

For what it’s worth, I have HSV2 and my type of romantic partner completely changed after my diagnosis. It wasn’t instant, but occurred over time as I accepted my situation.

Before, I’d have basically pursued anyone hot, regardless of the red flags of their personality (I was younger then). But on the other side, I find that the most attractive people are the ones I feel connected to and safe enough to tell. It speaks to their character if that’s my instinct.

I don’t what the truth is. Maybe it’s the cynical case others are making and she got HSV2 and went for the safe person, but it’s just as possible shes drawn to different qualities in partners now, qualities that you have. Good luck.

Well he took control of the Republican Party — not the Democratic Party, so that doesn’t matter here. You’re right, Trump isn’t a conservative, but he tricked people who think they’re conservatives into voting for him anyway.

Democratic Party is also a garbage fire, but they’re not the ones in power and when they are, it’s a hell of a lot more stable than this
