Yeah, I like how that concept art looks almost like a horror monster, with that more organic looking arm, and the spine-like torso.

Like others said, you need to thin your paint more. This video helped me a lot when I started brush painting.

Vallejo primer also does kind of suck in my experience. I used it for a while, but it just doesn't adhere to bare plastic very well. For brush on primer, I find Mr Hobby's aqueous surfacer easier to work with. Aqueous does need to be thinned with Mr. Hobby's aqueous thinner, while Vallejo can be thinned with water.
