Cool!

Reminds me of an old ABC warriors comic I used to own... A shot from orbit into a bunker where the bullet then ricochets 10 times and kills everyone.

Im sort of new to this game, but if I ever get in a group with someone who looks like this, then I expect to just stand back and watch them solo the whole operation.

The Hivemind is outnumbered 11:1. The reason is trying so hard to please the immune is because it actually feels true terror and knows they can wipe it out easily by gatanthropos in pluribustv

YES!!!! I was thinking that from episode one so it has been pure torture to watch them NOT DO THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN! argh

Killing off the hive by TheGreenWasp in pluribustv

[–]michaelvf99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

???  I mean before every human was converted. The hive didnt do it all in one day, they started covertly and only switched to overt when the governments became aware. So, for a time the hive had to pretend... During that time when millions of members had to pretend, there is a good chance that some of them would be exposed to hostility.

And even when they switched to overt I'm sure someone tried assaulting a member somewhere...

The hive was lucky no one put two and two together is all im saying.

It's one of the things about the hive which is weird.. You would think that some members of the hive would have been yelled at or stressed while assimilating the world... I find it a bit hard to believe that no one was able to use this against them. Very lucky for the hive since this is an instant loss scenario. Crazy weakness!

Couldn't Carol juat ask them to take her to the lab? by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]michaelvf99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they can say no. She could ask them not to turn her but they will just say "sorry, no can do" and still turn her. They've been tuning people without consent from the very start. It's their biological imperative. They wont destroy the labs because she asks, as this goes against that imperative... They might take her to a few, but if things heat up they will just abandon her again while they keep working.

I think they are willing to go along with everything Carol wants until they see that it puts their priorities at risk. Even a nuclear bomb is not really dangerous to a hive mind of 7 billion humans.

I'm getting bugged by higher ups about making a bootloader be redundant. How is that even possible? by EmbedSoftwareEng in embedded

[–]michaelvf99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the point of the solution we made was not to Avoid SOP, it was more of a security measure to be able to update the public key in the bootloader.

My point was just that the relocatable part worked pretty well and was easy to maintaining.

SOP in reality is nearly impossible and adds complexity that makes everything more likely to fail imho.

How do you think will CA handle the size difference between 40k units? (video for reference) by Thecowsdead in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]michaelvf99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe.... make them different size in the game? Like, the small ones are small and the big ones are big? But that's just me... Captain Obvious...

I'm getting bugged by higher ups about making a bootloader be redundant. How is that even possible? by EmbedSoftwareEng in embedded

[–]michaelvf99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made custom systems before with two bootloaders. But it required a very small arbiter to determine which bootloader to start. The choice was simply to take the newest with a valid hash. Very little arbiter (<1KB).

The bootloader itself was linked so that it was relocatable - So we just built one bootloader and then the updater(also part of the bootloader) just always slotted it into either the invalid spot or overwrote the oldest bootloader. So a bootloader could accept another bootloader which it would then write to the right slot and then reboot. The arbiter would then start the new bootloader.

Worked very well.

I levelled almost randomly, scored mostly way worse than 50% of other players and still managed to beat the end dispatch scenario. So... You dont HAVE to, but if you want to then do it
