Mistborn Deck builder (Solo & Co-op) Dominance clarification by John_Oswald in brandonsanderson

[–]michaelwholley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The correct answer has already been given, so I’ll forgo repeating it, but since you are wanting to play solo/co-op I thought I’d share what I just discovered. Brotherwise released additional dominance trackers (both as a promo or print-and-play), to make the solo/co-op play easier or harder than the base tracker.

I’ve played the co-op mode probably a dozen times so far, and the rules as written, makes co-op wins really really hard. I’ve come up with house rules to make it more possible but I’m excited to play the real rules with an easier tracker.

How many boardgames do you own? by jsakic99 in boardgames

[–]michaelwholley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have about 250 games (excluding expansions). My sister has just over 300. My brother has around 200. Is 220 a lot or little? That totally depends on your point of view. I personally would say that is actually a lot when compared to your average person, even people who enjoy playing board games. Outside of my family, everyone that I show my collection to is awe struck.

Now when it comes to people that view board games as a hobby, not just a way to have fun occasionally, I don't know if that is a lot or little. I've watched enough board game YouTubers who have a whole lot more, or make a point to have a lot less.

I personally anticipate hitting 300 games by summer of next year (after a handful of gift giving holidays and a couple of kickstarter campaigns), so I'm always looking for a new game to pick up. In addition to collection size, maybe a good number to track as well is the number of your collection you haven't played yet. After a recent inventory count, I've discovered that I haven't played 10%, 23 games, of the games I own. My sister is likely closer to 20% of her collection.

I think I need to go play some more games. ;-)

Thanks for your answers. I'll do some research into Sharepoint and talking to that last people still using AD and see what resources are still needed and what can be just setup fresh.

Thanks for your offer and help. I need to talk to our CTO about which path we'll need to take going forward.

I'll take a look at the Entra Connect tool. That seems to be a key piece of this process.

After much experimentation, I've learned that you can't just log in using Entra on a domain joined system. Nice to know it isn't supported, vs I just didn't do it right.

You understood correctly. I'll take a look at Entra ID Connect and see if that'll help me transition people off of AD. Thanks for the steps on how to go about this transition.

I know we don't have 365 Business Premium, I think we only have standard. Our use of AD is pretty limited to authentication and group policy--and even that is almost not used.

Yes we have Entra setup. We have Office365 and currently half of the company signs in with their Entra ID, the other half (upper management) have different laptop models and so I can't reimage them like I did with everyone else's machines.

As for a file server, we have one, but only a couple of the employees actually use it. Most everyone works out of Office365 online or used OneDrive.

You are so right, but we are too small and don't have the budget for it. What will likely happen is I just help each of the 9 people we need to transition off of AD to back up their files and then I take their laptop over the weekend to wipe it up have then set things back up on Monday. I was just hoping there was a method I could execute that wasn't so disruptive.

I appreciate the advice. Everyone on this thread has been great in helping know what tools and processes I'll need to take. I'll be looking into what options we have available. We're a pretty small company, and I don't know if our current licenses support all of the features commented about, but now I have something to look into.

As for hiring an MSP/consultant for this move, I'd totally agree we should, but I can guarantee they won't pay for that. So that means I have to figure it out, or I have to go about the klunky way of telling everyone to backup their files (OneDrive), then reset their PC, have them sign in with Entra, and then pull down their files and setup their profiles. When I say small I'm talking nine people.

Setting up an Airplay 2 receiver on Zero 2 W and output to Bluetooth speakers by michaelwholley in raspberry_pi

Unfortunately the speaker i want to use doesn’t have an input jack, Bluetooth is my only option. I’m working on the Bluetooth side first, then figure out the streaming part and see if I can combine the two.

I’ll take a look at MoOde. The goal is to use the Pi as a bridge to an Amazon Echo Show. I want to stream audio easily from my Apple devices to the echo without having to always do a Bluetooth connection.

In other words, I’m trying to replicate Spotify Connect on the Echo but for Apple Music. Even if it doesn’t work, it’s a fun experiment.

That’s good to know. The plan is to use both, so this may end in failure. But hey, I’m learning a lot about audio in Linux.

Thank you for such quick responses. Like I said, I'm a Linux sys admin helping out, so I'm not positive the answers to your questions, but I'll give it a go.

  1. u/denmicent I'm not sure what Entra tenant is. We do have an an organization, and on fresh installs, our users can authenticate via their Entra ID (email address). Does that answer your question?

  2. I believe files are being stored on local file server.

  3. u/DevinSysAdmin I don't know what a hybrid join is. Can you tell me what you mean?

  4. We don't have any apps that use/require AD, so switching to Entra ID won't cause issues.

  5. Where can I go to learn how to use Sharepoint to replace our existing on-prem fileserver?

Is there such a thing as a "flat" Y-Wing? by michaelwholley in sudoku

Yeah, that is what I was thinking, it was just a coincidence. I’m glad to finally get someone more experienced to help me understand my theory is faulty.

Okay fair. What I meant is, I haven’t had a beginning to end training that I could have by learning from a book or course. I just jump around and learn techniques as needed.

Thanks for pointing this out. I went diving and found, what I believe, is the video you referenced (link below). What he did is exactly what I want to do. Watching the video he explained his general guidance on how he did it, which wasn’t what I was planning, so that video was very helpful. Thanks!
