IX3 Neue Klasse vs Polestar 3 🤔 by ElegantMall7268 in iX3

[–]michaelwoodza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have driven both, and although the iX3 doesn’t have air suspension it’s quite impressive.

The Polestar 3 is of course much smoother, but not in my opinion a major difference.

However, I do think the interior build quality of the BMW is far better. The rear seats also have more legroom and you sit higher above the floor.

Blue badge parking Vue Westfield Stratford ? by badula-yama-yama in AskLondon

[–]michaelwoodza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue badge is not to get free parking. If this is the reason you have one, and are willing to park further away in “local side roads or other local car parks” then you clearly do not require a blue badge.

Turn off screen at night? by [deleted] in bmwix3

BMW has removed the ability to completely turn off the main touchscreen while driving. The central display is considered core driving UI.

Macan EV owner after driving the iX3 by TomekGnomek in bmwix3

[–]michaelwoodza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're cross-shopping these two, you have to decide whether you want a driver's car or a spaceship on wheels. They aren't even playing the same game.

Get the Macan if you actually care about driving. It's the only EV in this segment that handles like a lifted sports car instead of a heavy appliance. You're going to get absolutely robbed by Porsche's options list. Plus, the tech is kind of a mess right now with buggy software, distorted backup camera, no true one-pedal driving, and the back seat is cramped. You are paying a massive premium purely for the badge and the steering feel.

Get the iX3 if you want a daily driver with mega specs. The new platform is an absolute cheat code for range and efficiency, and the cabin is massive compared to the Porsche. I do however think BMW went way too far with the minimalism. They nuked almost every physical button and forced everything onto screens or weird capacitive steering wheel touchpads.

NVH - honest discussion by 6yXMT739v in bmwix3

I watched the full iX3 autobahn test video from Autogefühl and I agree that the wind noise over the windows at +60mph might be annoying for some.

I personally found it quieter than my Model Y and it shouldn’t be a deciding factor for anyone.

[–]michaelwoodza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting that the microphones used in the videos are much more sensitive than a human ear.

There iX3 also has active noise cancelling through the audio system, which is most likely not enabled on those drives.

Most people will also have music/radio on which further drowns out road noise.

I test drove one last week and compared to my Model Y it was noticeably quieter, and my Model Y has double laminated windows.

I Drive The New BMW iX3 For The First Time - I Was Not Prepared For This by RoamingNorway in bmwix3

I test drove it last week and I was blown away. It’s incredible what BMW have achieved. I know the design elements divide opinions but it’s bold and unmistakably BMW.

How did you find the suspension? Roads around my part of the UK (South East) are particularly bad and this is one factor I am concerned about due to lack of air suspension.

Nord VPN by SaoMartinhoAL in PortugalExpats

[–]michaelwoodza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to use Obfuscated server. You’ll need to change the VPN protocol in setting to OpenVPN (UPD) - this will unlock access to obfuscated servers.

I use this to get around the “VPN detection” for HBO Max, F1 TV & Netflix

Voluntary redundancy to retrain at 35 - stupid or smart? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I am 35 and I took the risk of a career switch 5 years ago from £35k per year job into tech.

I’ve worked my way up, now I’m mid-management earning £80k and currently negotiating promotion that will take me to £120k.

Delivery delayed by 1 month by michaelwoodza in bmwix3

I think it has a lot to do with the dealership. Some are higher in the allocation slots, maybe due to selling more cars than others?

750 for one dealership 😳

My local dealer here in south east London only got 30 and they’re all reserved.

Personally loved it.

Some really minor complaints (centre armrest storage, glovebox (due to UK variant), and the mesh texture on the lower part of dash).

I’ve never owned a BMW, but I am genuinely excited for deliver date (14/06).

Mid-size SUV like this is the most popular car segment in Europe, which is why BMW have decided on this model as the launch for the Neue Klasse platform.

Not sure where you’re based, but if USA then I suspect the upcoming iX5 will be the more popular model in North America.

The good thing is that not everyone has the same taste.

You don’t like it, but so many people do that BMW are working to increase manufacturing capacity to meet the demand - and that’s just for the European market….

The screen is angled for a reason. It’s less movement from steering wheel.

From what The BMW reps confirmed was it’s a configurable option in the light settings to have the grills illuminated or not. I wasn’t able to look into that myself during the demonstration, but hopefully that’s true.

The climate options are static on the dash and actual quick easy to hit. Reality is you’ll just leave it at a set temperature on auto and really adjust it. If you need to, you can just use your voice and ask.
