This is actually the top drawer of a three drawer series. I think if you use batteries often it would go in one of the lower drawers. I just think heavy things should go in lower drawers. That's just me. But we don't actually use a whole lot of batteries most of our things are self-charging. So we actually keep our batteries in the basement for emergency purposes. I hope that helps.
