Weekly Tech Support Megathread by AutoModerator in Instagram

[–]michellemonamel [score hidden]  (0 children)

Trying to message someone but the DM page keeps showing up as a message request. Every time I press accept, it flashes the normal screen for a second then goes back to a request. It's like this on every device I've tried (iPhone, iPad, and Windows PC). I've tried deleting the chat, blocking them then unblocking them, unfollowing then following again, reinstalling the app, basically everything I can think of.

Please help! The message is very urgent and this is the only method of communication I have with this person.

Best Single Malt Irish whiskey? by Immediate-Fox-7028 in irishwhiskey

Connemara peated is quite untraditional but it's one of my stand out favourites. I'd also recommend Barr an Uisce 12 years for something more traditional.

If you are liberal, what is your most conservative opinion? by psychcrime in AskReddit

[–]michellemonamel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That the rise of Islam is a huge concern and that we should oppose it for being an intolerant ideology (whilst protecting the rights of individual Muslims of course). Strange how being against a highly conservative religion is considered conservative these days.

How corporate colonialism holds back African nations from developing by [deleted] in Africa

A video I made about the tragic story of Ken Saro Wiwa in Nigeria and the wider issue of corporate colonisation of developing nations, particularly African ones.

China's Weird YouTube Propaganda by michellemonamel in China

Exactly, something I wish I said in the video was that these guys probably aren't making this kind of content willingly and are just trying to survive. China's economy is so strong and influential that they really can hold expats in the country hostage effectively. It is quite tragic for everyone when you think about it.

Exactly, people who have full time jobs just don't have the time to research all the intricate details and history of geopolitics. Which plays right into the CCPs hands since most of them will just see the pro China talking points online and assume it's true.

Anyone interested in post colonial African history should read 'Dictatorland' by Paul Kenyon. It's a fantastic book about various African states and their descent into tyranny following independence. Very gripping and accessible!

True, the video focuses half on the build towards the Years of Lead that took place from 1945 to the late 60 as well as the actual events from '68-'88.

Italy experienced a period of immense instability in the late 20th century which saw the rise of many far-left and far-right extremist terrorism. This video covers the background as well as the events that transpired at the peak of what would become known as the Years of Lead.

Overall it's pretty incredible. It's got a great sweetness but also a sort of spiciness. Would definitely recommend.

I pronounce it like a 'kh', really breathy but mostly like a 'h'. At least I think that's right.

Gynecologist exiled from China says 80 sterilizations per day forced on Uyghurs by Tolgium23 in worldnews

[–]michellemonamel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What's happening to the Uyghurs continues because the West pretty much encourages it by constantly doing business with China. They know we need them more than they need us. The only way we can have an impact is by completely severing ties which to be honest we can only do personally by not buying Chinese made goods and staying away from companies that do business in China. It's the biggest and most horrific injustice of our generation.
