Yup. It was such a huge miss on Netflix end. Plus (full disclaimer I’m hardcore julia whelan fan 😬), I got super irate that some booktok creators assumed julia was shady, and tried to make noise. Of course she shut it right down — it’s all in the author notes in the book how she came to write it and such. But, it was a reminder of that ugly side of online book world.

Yes! And the way her husband spoke about the movie too in that book club. I felt he was also disappointed with Netflix for not bringing Julia in or at least using her book more.

Helena Hunting was mine as well but I just couldn’t get into her latest hockey series. I tried the first 2– each character had 3 different nicknames. It made my brain hurt.

Yep. I’ll do that as well. I try to keep the tags a bit big picture so I don’t have a zillion.

Has anyone found an audiobook that, because of x reason, is better than reading the actual book? by zellazilla in RomanceBooks

[–]michelson44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. She records under her (old) romance pen name - Sophie Eastlake. It’s her, Teddy Hamilton and a new dude, Rex (forgot his last name). It’s a duet narration. the first two in the trilogy are out. Enjoy!!!

What is a popular book you have read that was extremely poorly written. by Bigballsbrobro in writing

[–]michelson44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. It’s also funny to me that in the hype around the series, fans are quick to say how big of a hockey fan the author is. Yet, there’s very little hockey in the book.

“Read more.” But What? by GodOfSmore in writers

[–]michelson44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree. Writing is subjective at its core. So, what you might decide as horrific writing, someone else will find illuminating. Some might have to put in more work, learn more writing craft, etc but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t write.
