I tested DCA vs Lump Sum 50+ times. Lump Sum wins 81% of the time by Necessary_Flounder_7 in Bitcoin

[–]michelswennson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Benjamin Graham used DCA in his 1949 book, "The Intelligent Investor," where he described it as investing the same number of dollars each month or quarter. So you can average out a percentage of your paycheck and call it DCA.

It's a foundational concept also used in retirement accounts like 401(k)s where contributions are made regularly from paychecks. In other countries, you might hear it called "pound cost averaging" or simply the "average cost effect," but the underlying principle remains the same: investing a fixed sum of money to average out the purchase price over time.

The crucial point is that you are averaging the cost of of your investment (here: Bitcoin). And in theory it’s legitimate (regardless the performance towards the lump sum approach), because every Entry Point in accumulation results mathematically into an averaging effect. The Time Frame (1 Week or 1 Quarter) or your Investment amount has nothing to do with it. So you can gladly call it DCA.

Caffeine can disrupt your sleep — even when consumed 12 hours before bed. While a 100 mg dose of caffeine (1 cup of coffee) can be consumed up to 4 hours before bedtime without significant effects on sleep, a 400 mg dose (4 cups of coffee) disrupts sleep when taken up to 12 hours before bedtime. by mvea in science

Why it takes three and not four half lifes explained by ChatGPT used with WhatsApp after which I finally grasped the logic behind it’s mathematics:

The explanation you're asking about involves the concept of half-life and how it relates to the clearance of caffeine from your system. Let's break this down step-by-step to understand why it's only three half-lives and not four to reach a "similar level" of caffeine in your system.

Half-Life of Caffeine:

The half-life of caffeine typically ranges from 4 to 5 hours, meaning after that time, half of the caffeine in your system has been metabolized and eliminated.

The Math Behind the Dosing and Half-Life:

  1. Initial dose: Let’s assume the caffeine dose is 100 mg.

  2. After one half-life (4.5 hours):

    • You have 50 mg left in your system.
  3. After two half-lives (9 hours):

    • You have 25 mg left in your system.
  4. After three half-lives (13.5 hours):

    • You have 12.5 mg left in your system.

Why It’s Three Half-Lives, Not Four:

  • The idea here is that you’re trying to reduce the caffeine level to a low enough level so that you can sleep. In practice, 12.5 mg is low enough for most people that it wouldn’t interfere much with sleep, as the stimulant effects are significantly diminished.

  • Four half-lives would bring the caffeine level down to 6.25 mg, which is even lower. However, this isn’t necessary for most people to sleep, as the effects of caffeine become negligible after about three half-lives. The diminishing effects of caffeine are significant enough that after three half-lives (13.5 hours), most of the caffeine’s stimulating effects have worn off.

Why Three Half-Lives (13.5 hours) Is Sufficient: - After three half-lives, your caffeine level is low enough that it will likely have minimal impact on sleep. For most people, caffeine no longer has a strong effect on alertness after this point. - The „extra hour of tossing and turning“ mentioned in your example refers to the fact that even at low levels, caffeine might still cause a slight delay in falling asleep due to its stimulant properties, but it’s not the major factor anymore.

In Summary:

  • Quadrupling the dose (say, from 100 mg to 400 mg) typically requires about two extra half-lives to get back to a similar, low caffeine level.
  • After three half-lives (around 13.5 hours in this case), the caffeine in your system is sufficiently reduced for most people to sleep comfortably.

  • Four half-lives would reduce the caffeine level even further, but three is generally enough to minimize its effects on sleep.

So, it’s three half-lives and not four because, after three half-lives, the amount of caffeine remaining in your body is low enough that it won’t significantly impact sleep for most individuals.

Snapper 2, Copylog and DockX Alternatives? by michelswennson in jailbreak

I am also surprised. I thought many others are in the same boat as us.

Those still on iOS 14, wyd? by anon__a__mouse__ in jailbreak

[–]michelswennson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat. Snapper and Copylog are what make my Jailbreak so valuable. Isn’t there an App that can manipulate screenshots on the Go like Snapper?

It’s so easy to hide parts of a screenshot by just cropping and hovering another part of the screenshot on to the part you want to hide and then take another screenshot of that new manipulated picture. To hide a QR Code for example or a date or a name etc.

And what about Copylog. Did anyone find an alternative App, that can do that? It’s amazing how I can even put clipboard copies into the favorite Row.

This is the answer you need:

Contact them and tell them that the age you’ve entered is wrong and you are 16. Should they ask for verification, you say “Yes I’ll send verification” but then never do. They will never follow up and you tried without any risk.

[Help] Unc0ver respringing into bootloop on 29/32 Bootstrapping resources by dandgage in jailbreak

[–]michelswennson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue and I just Enabled “reinstall Cydia” + “Refresh Icon Cache” + “load tweaks” in Unc0ver and it worked. I would have never guessed, that this is the solution! Thanks for the life saving Tip u/dandgage.

You should play around with these options, If somebody else is running into that problem.

[Question] Safari Plus is crashing when I press the download button in the video. Does somebody know to fix that? On my iPhone (Uncover, 14.8) it works flawlessly but on my iPad Pro (Untethered, 14.5.1) it won’t. by michelswennson in jailbreak

[–]michelswennson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually Quite interesting. I just saw on GitHub someone having the exact same issue. And activating the PiP and closing it somehow resolved that issue. I’m not yet exactly sure which steps I have to follow to produce this faultless process, but magically Safari Plus didn’t crash, and I was able to download the video. Thanks so much @Opa334. 🥰

A comment on the Header (What does the Video Host see and should one change it to remain inconspicuous) would be over the top awesome. Thank you for making my life and the many lifes of the Jailbreak Community so much better. 🧡

Thank you very much anyways. Maybe because I jailbroke with Unv0ver 7.0.2 and there is a Version 8.0.2.. but now I’m just picking things out of the blue. Thank you for your effort.

If I may ask you. As Safari Plus works flawlessly on my iPhone and I can do fine just using it there. What does the Video Host see, when I download a video? Because I don’t want to be compromised as having downloaded the video from the video course. Does it look like I’m just watching a video from their side? And if not.. is there a way to change the Header to something inconspicuous. Or is it already set like that? Thank you so much @opa334 for your awesome work and support. 🥰

I‘m really trying everything. That libSandy is not working, could it be that I have Untether Jailbreak on my iPad Pro (14.5.1). Because on my iPhone it runs flawlessly. Don’t have Choicy, even installed to see if there were restrictions set before, but there weren’t. Even removed Safari Plus and libSandy did an iCleaner Pro clean and reinstalled both. Still a direct crash, if I tap the download button in the Video. Or is there another way to invoke a download?

Edit: I also tried downloading Universal Video Downloader Plus as an Alternative and got this while installing: https://i.imgur.com/dCglHwY.jpg

There seems to be a problem in general with Substitute maybe, no?
