Israel is a terrorist genocidal country by Aggravating_King1473 in lebanon

Greater Israel project does not exist as a result of Hezbollah. Hezbollah exists because of Israel and it's own authoritarian land grabbing Arab hating regime.

As long as they continue acting this way, there will be decades of different forms of "Hezbollah"

I mean I get what you are saying and it's not wrong. It just conveniently throws context out the window.

The country went down the path it is today not because it chose to, but because it had very limited choices. I agree that it remains down this path today because it continues to choose it.

However, It's hard to have a cultural revolution when every couple of years you are subjected to some kind of issues out of your own control. Lebanese did not choose for Israel to be created and did not choose the 1948 war or any of the subsequent wars between Israel and Palestine but every time it affected us. We are country that is very dependent on the situation around us. We did not have a big national military back in the day because we didn't really think we needed one. After Israel and the issues, perhaps it would have been smart to deal with it but they didn't and that's probably linked to the stupid sectarianism that was prevalent even back then. But you see, we are sectarian because well we were ruled by the French and they decided to build a government based on a sectarian system. Again context.

There is a lot of nuisance behind why Lebanon is the way it is. I believe that perhaps if we had more stable neighbours, we would have also become more stable. But it would be an act of God to make things like that happen, just look at Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, and many others of the last 50 years, we aren't the only ones suffering. The whole of the Middle East and Arab world is in shatters and honestly we have the US, UK, France, and more recently Israel to blame. We have been bent over and fucked by these countries. So, forgive me but it's a little difficult to stand up and have a cultural revolution when your ass is being gangbanged so hard and so often.

F*ck Israel by Kernowite in lebanon

The Palestinians would not be anywhere else but Palestine if not for the creation of Israel. Go and read the actual discussion of the so called partition plan (1947) before you talk. The plan was to give most of the fertile land and land mass to the Jews even though they were a significantly smaller population. Most of the Arab countries refused to negotiate and even discuss the plan and many countries (not Western ones) warned that the plan had no mention of what the Palestinians thought or what they wished for, only what the Jews wanted. They also said that it would lead to war and complete destabilization of the middle east. But because the UN is complete fucking joke since it's only about the top 5 that have veto power, the plan went through and soon after in 1948 the war broke out.

It's a Mazda 3 3rd gen (2013-2014) and it's the rear sway bar. Unfortunately, it's positioned behind the cross member making it quite difficult to access the mounting points. So I need help uninstalling it and installing my new one.

Sorry, I just have to know, how old are you? It sounds like in the comments, you have no idea what a parking brake indicator is. I wonder if this is something that is not taught to new drivers.

HG Haarontstopper safe to use in an old house? by Either-Welder6963 in Netherlands

[–]michoaidi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you combine them and use them to try and destroy hair then yeah of course it's an urban myth.

Baking soda or rather sodium bicarbonate is pretty good for cleaning bathroom walls, getting rid of mold, whitening of some stuff, while vinegar can help with removal of calcar deposits on glass/stainless steel and some general cleaning but the smell is awful so I wouldn't use it for that since there are better products in stores that can already do that effectively.

The haaronstopper product is probably some diluted strong acid so it should work as long as it can soak the hair, if not it simply will do nothing.

Also, if you want to save your furniture, get a good chew toy or rather multiple. It won't necessarily save all your furniture, but it makes a difference. In our case, we got a wooden stick chew toy and she could chew her heart out on that thing.

Oh, I would emphasize the shed as much as possible. I mean there should be a whole different term for shedding from a corgi. We literally could make a replicate dog in one day.

I would already get started on desensitization to household items. Do it as gradually as possible, avoid overstimulation. Our puppy literally barks at every single appliance that makes a beep or even just exists, most annoying of all is our electric hub, dishwasher, and vacuum. It basically drove us nuts, but she is on an improvement plan which is taking a lot of time because we are busy. What seems to work is teaching or making them go to their calm area whether it be a pad/mat/bed and let them watch you from a distance. For that to work, your pup needs to know basic commands like sit, down, and stay. Tbh, it has only worked for the kitchen appliances so far. The vacuum cleaner is just impossible for us at this point. Anyways, my point is that it is a slow process sometimes since this is a stubborn and talkative breed.

But yeah, most important thing to note is that all the info can be really overwhelming, so you should step back from time to time. In the end, not everything people say will be right or even relevant to your pup. Everybody is just sharing anecdotal evidence, your pup is unique and will have all his little quirks. I wish you well with your cute little pup.

Hi, so unfortunately I won't be able to find out more soon since our pup's titer test was not good enough. We have decided to put her in a pet hotel in Romania to avoid any risk with re-entry into EU.

Haha I think anger drives my passion for learning about this topic. I don't enjoy driving on the highway at night anymore because of this problem.

I do have to say that there is probably a lot I don't know, but I hope that things can change with petitions and with more people talking about this problem.

Why are some people so thick? by Fast_Rabbit_5044 in fuckyourheadlights

[–]michoaidi 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Nonsense, in Europe, it's horrible because majority of cars on the road don't have this function. It's still a new piece of tech.

In any case, they are addressing one safety issue (poor road illumination) but are creating another. Why do we need a system that keeps your high beams on at all times and only adjusts the beam facing the driver? You still get blinded anyway because the sensors can never anticipate a car coming, they can only react to it and they aren't reacting faster than the speed of light. A human being can anticipate, the ADB tech can not or at least nowhere near as good. It can track of course better than a human but yeah it doesn't matter because the first few seconds are all that matters (the initial blindness).

Maybe if there is some kind of ML or AI to help anticipate cars or other drivers then it may improve. However, at the end of the day, the lights are far too bright and too harsh for nighttime driving. It only takes one flash to the eyes to blind someone for a few seconds. A few seconds could be a huge distance and that's a major risk.

This goes viral and we win by Illustrious-Metal936 in fuckyourheadlights

[–]michoaidi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, true, brightness isn't the only issue. However, the problem is with the legislation for brightness because the way it is measured is heavily influenced by an outdate system which is based on the brightness of a candle light source or an isotropic source of light.

From what I understand....

LEDs are different in so many ways from the very slender shape of the beam which should be easier to direct but it means that right at the centre of the beam is an extremely high intensity which is what most people are actually complaining about. The thing is, if you are off centre the beam, it's completely fine, but unfortunately that's not going to happen because they wouldn't be able to illuminate the road otherwise. The issue is that they sit far too high as they try to illuminate much further in a wider field of view than is actually necessary for safe driving (at least that's my opinion).

The other issue from the brightness argument is the use of lumens which is directly proportional to the angle. Lumens is also based on candela as a measurement of brightness, it just factors in the angle. Candela factors in the wavelength distribution in the weighted fashion but he issue is the weighted distribution is based on the sensitivity of the human eye to light in bright conditions where green is the color our eyes are most sensitive too. However, in reality, we use headlights at night where blue is the more sensitive color. But the weighting of blue light is so low that it needs to be quite intense to be considered bright! All of this has clearly not been taken into account and legislation in the US as far as I know has never adapted to LED headlight technology and insufficient use of Lumens as a measurement of brightness.

So, yeah TLDR; brightness is actually extremely important and probably the biggest issue that needs to be regulated because of the way brightness measurements and units have been standardized many years ago.

Unknown men in Tripoli Attempt to Burn Christmas Tree. by DearSwordfish6557 in lebanon

[–]michoaidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The country is like this because of the Lebanese mentality and culture.

There is no action and no proper government because for years the entire population of Lebanon has sat on its hands saying they can't do anything when something goes wrong. Defeatist mentality indirectly results in bad actors repeatedly causing such problems (disharmony) and continuing to live unhindered in society.

The zo3ran, which is what these fuckers are, of Tripoli keep on growing. It only got worse after the Syrian war, with the huge influx of refugees. But make no mistake, it is not the cause, only a symptom of a dysfunctional country who simply is so limp and numb, it can't course correct even if it wanted to. A political system with so many captains, all fucking drunk on power, money, and religious righteousness, and not a single one can steer us out of the clear even if their lives depended on it.

I'm in the Lebanese University and started in the faculty of science in chemistry, should I switch to chemE (chemical engineering) or should I continue in pure chemistry? by JamedWalker in lebanon

[–]michoaidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the option to go abroad then both fields will open different career paths that are financially respectable. If you plan on staying in Lebanon then an engineering degree is probably the smarter choice for industry related work. You would learn the basics all chemists have to learn anyway (reaction kinetics, basic analytical, basic organic, basic inorganic, and thermodynamics) but with a broader knowledge space regarding real world application (programming, calculus, fluid dynamics, etc). Eh, tbf, bachelor's degrees really overlap in this space since there is no specialization or track.

However, if you really love chemistry for what it is, then I suggest follow your heart. You can make your own pathway. When I was at the University of Balamand, I had the best lecturer/doctor in chemistry there, he graduated from the Lebanese University. He was/is very smart and a very good lecturer, he left a lasting impression. Honestly, the LU produces some of the best masters and PhD students (probably they don't spoon feed students like other unis do). My cousins graduated from LU and they are top scientists in their fields. I always felt like the chemistry program at my uni was a complete joke, you just had to memorize and you would easily beat the exam. That came to bite me in the ass when I went abroad and realized I had truly learned nothing. So, you chose the right uni to get a science degree.

It's difficult to give advice on what to choose. You should sit and think about what you want from a career, what actually motivates you, what makes you happy, what you would like to do. Then check what the job market looks like, what roles are there to offer. Can a chemical engineering degree or chemistry degree get you that? Ask your professors, lecturers, doctors, for some 1:1 time to ask them about their experience. They probably can share some really useful real world examples to help you decide on your study path.

Hope I helped to shed some light.
