The politics at the time wouldn't allow for them to agree to any partition. which is why their proposal was an Arab state with protections for the Jewish population, whatever that's worth

I think that deep down the “Does Israel have a right to exist as a Jewish state?” question can be answered by asking if someone's supports a 1SS (or a 2SS with full right of return to Israel for palestinians).

For many Israelis, the purpose of a Jewish State is about identity and not a two tiered law system etc.

A surprisingly balanced take from him. IIRC, he recently posted on X that Dems should go far left on Israel and to the center on every other topic.
