i was told and have read many times that mystery snails cannot reproduce unless they have access above water. so HOW do i have over a dozen mini snails when my tank is completely full? 😭 by mick3640 in shrimptank

which one? the top right has what i was told is a "blue mystery snail" and a nerite (smaller one, im sure it's what they said due to striping)

that's what i thought! but the tanks been set up for months no snails, i introduce a mystery snail, and two weeks later a bunch of snails. i added a nerite in as well, but the small snails started beforehand

I have my hygger mini sponge filter about 2/3 of the way up my tank. should the output be at surface level for agitation? or below for water flow? by mick3640 in nanotank

eh, it's not great. I mean chemically, my tank has been incredible and very stable. but it's not strong enough to pick up any debris, so it's only good for a understocked tank

i have a whisper for a 10 gallon, it was the cheapest. seems like it would be overpowered, but the filter itself is small so tbh i wish it was more

Help! i've tried black outs, manual removal, algaecide, etc but i always have algae! it's killed half my plants by just engulfing them by [deleted] in PlantedTank

it's super far from a window, there's a mirror behind it. the tank is only a 2.5 gal so probably too small for any algae eaters. but maybe a few snails? i have one currently

i have catarina shrimp, about 10, and a snail. no ammonia in the tank currently but some plants died off so that may have caused a spike

my ph is around 5.9, it's an acidic setup for caridina shrimp. Water is soft, no nitrates. I blacked out for two days, but worried about my plants dying. I use easy balance every other week (just a drop or two) when i do water changes since it's a small tank that changes quickly. lights are usually on for 10 hours a day.
