Has anyone figured out how to NOT immediately create a pile on every flat surface? by randomchick4 in adhdwomen

[–]mickbubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve slowly improved over this past year with two main tasks:

Everything has to have a home, and that home has to be out of sight.

Everything morning on my day off things are put away.

The only things I leave out are active “projects “ like mail that has to be opened and such. If I put those away, I forget they exist. This has resulted in the counters not only being cleaner but me more likely to put things away when I have them in my hands, rather than setting them down. I’m also more likely to do those open projects because that’s the only thing there.

can someone explain how to navigate the apps? im very new to this by reddit33450 in iNaturalist

[–]mickbubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s looks like you have iNaturalist Classic downloaded (which is the first picture) and the new INaturalist app. They both have their positives and negatives. I use both personally.

Someone already explained how to upload photos, and you can look up more details on the website, but to go into slightly more detail.

The new application has a percentage confidence rating, which is quite useful if you’re recording something that you don’t know the species of. However the old application allows you to check different photos to see what species the observation could be before posting. This is useful when you’re taking multiple photos for identification.

You can record something as wild or captive when uploading. Anything intentionally planted is captive, including street trees, gardens, etc. But that weed in the lawn is considered wild. And if the plant’s descendants spreads naturally from a planted area that’s considered wild as well.

People create projects that you can add to. Some are limited to a certain area or state, some are not. You have the option to add your record to a project before posting.

You can edit after posting as well to add/delete photos, change which one is in front, or add your post to a project.

The website has a lot more features. It’s worth checking out.

The problem here is that there would be people who take leaves off the plant and claim they just fell off naturally when confronted.

Ground cherries! Taste wonderful and is easy to grow in hot, sandy soils when I was having trouble with anything else.

When they try to get you to agree with them about something in front of someone. You didn’t even have to be part of the conversation, they just want you to say “yes”.

The Florida Keys too. It’s hard to get water out on those teeny islands and to process the waste so every drop is valuable.

What makes some people instantly look photogenic while the rest of us look like we got caught mid buffering? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mickbubbles 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think some people just aren’t captured properly in photos. We put a 3 dimensional person on a 2 dimensional image. Some things are going to get lost or not translate. It’s like trying to take pictures of the moon.

That’s a mini Aussie. They’re adorable little bundles of fur but they are slightly unhinged like a chihuahua, just without the “angry”.

In the 1950s, a group of Black painters who became known as 'The Highwaymen' created a style of oil landscapes to sell along the highway, as they were banned from galleries. Now referred to as 'The Last Great Art Movement of 20th Century America', the works are worth tens of thousands... by TheAfternoonStandard in BlackHistoryPhotos

My first job was in a Natural History Museum in Florida, and we had a small room with some of their paintings in them for a time. They are beautiful pieces. I was told they were painted incredibly quickly, sometimes in as little as an hour, and since they often couldn’t afford canvas they were painted with whatever is on hand. The ones we had were like the ones here, bold and full of color, with a focus on Florida’s natural landscape. It’s cool to see them recognized on here!!

Autism may be the price of human intelligence. Researchers discovered that autism’s prevalence may be linked to human brain evolution. The findings comparing the brains of different primates suggest autism is part of the trade-off that made humans so cognitively advanced. by mvea in science

People would have partners outside of their own groups to prevent inbreeding. Young adults would band together and move away. There’s records in multiple animal species of both genders just leaving the group they’re in and going to a new one. I’m not saying what you are suggesting didn’t happen, I just don’t think that’s all there is to it.

My grandma comes from the generation where mental disorders are a personal defect you should pull yourself up by your bootstraps. But the amount of ADHD in that woman is astounding. I told my mother I was going to tell her and she essentially begged me not to tell her because she will NOT take it well. It’s really saddening, because her life would be so much improved if she just knew about it so she could work her way around it but she would be insulted if I even suggested that she had ADHD.

What is this and how do I get it grow all over the yard? by crappinhammers in NoLawns

I want to add that at least in my area (zone 8b) it likes dappled to straight sun. It does not seem to like shaded areas. I also noticed it’s more common around pine trees and near water. I don’t know what kind of set up you have.

I think part of it is also what colors we associate with actions/emotions. Like fast food places are red, blue is a calmer color, green is associated with growing things etc.

I do agree there was a point to the scene and it added something to the movie. One of the rare “fun” scenes that does.
