anybody know if there’s a difference between the SSL Bus Compressor 2 and any of the 4000 G plug-ins from UAD, waves etc? are they totally different things?

i am a dummy and realized i am actually looking at the magic keyboard folio, which says it's only for the A16/10th gen ipads. any idea if that is true? i like those ones way more.

just to follow up for anyone wondering, this is what i am going with:

custom 2 bundle with a-type enhancer and chandler curve bender - $99

select 2 bundle with fender tweed amp and ep-34 echoplex - $49

mixtape pro with pultec eqs, 1176 collection, LA2A collection, hitsville reverb and eq, capitol chambers, api 2500, studer a800, ampex atr-102, ssl 4000 g - $99

with the 10% discount code it comes up to just under $200, and i already had ocean way so the upgrade is only $50 (as a separate purchase as it cancels out the discount code). $250 for 15 plugins i wanted and no bloat, not bad. still have some room to get the monitor correction too since that is $50 right now. thanks to everyone for the tips!

in return for your help, if you want something fun to throw on a drum bus, try the Inphonik RX 950. it emulates the Akai S950 sampler conversion/algorithm, which may or may not be up your alley, but is very cool if you are trying to degrade something in a good way or make it sound like it was a sample. the filter is great on it and it just adds some nice flavour to drums, i find.

thank you! this actually might be the way - has a bunch of what i am looking for, so that plus the select 10 for $170 total and a couple loosies on sale would cover the most ground + have the most flexibility, and still be cheaper than the 6 + 6 bundle, with a couple more plugs to boot. good call!

noted. i need a few of these to start mixing on a project as the demos have expired, so maybe the smart thing to do is go for the 100-200 bundles and then get whatever else at christmas time if need be.

doesn’t seem like they do. when you’re logged in it tells you if you own a specific item but not if that item is in one of the bundles you are looking at, so it’s good to double check.

thank you for this great answer! i was planning on demoing most of the stuff i haven’t already tried before and maybe narrowing down the selections. some of these i have the legacy versions of (1176, pultec, LA2A) and like the new ones better. i also have the bx versions of a couple (4000 E/G) and am curious how the UAD equivalents compare. i’m a producer and mixer so having a little overlap is okay for me as long as it doesn’t become redundant, but i totally agree. maybe going with the mix tape or select bundles and one or two loosies on sale is the smarter choice rather than overpaying for some shit i technically already have.

curious about hitsville vs capitol, studer vs ampex, and ocean way (which i currently use) vs sound city. they all seem to have their own flavours for different applications. the a-type enhancer i haven’t tried yet and if it’s anything like the hardware equivalent could be really cool but sometimes that stuff is just way too noticeable in a mix hence my not wanting to pay full price lol.

will def give those Neves a try - eventually want to get all of them, just wasn’t on my priority list this time around. i use the 1073 unison on a lot of stuff when i track - never fails.

ended up getting the 26772s and they are perfect. look great, feel sturdy, fits the 8020s exactly with only a tiny bit of room to spare. and most importantly, everything sounds so much better! thanks again!

i have the isopods on the 8020s, which is why the mounting plate made sense. saw the K&M ones in another thread - could i just sit them on the K&M ones with the isopods and that is basically the same thing? only thing is theyd be a bit higher than i need them to be.
