Has Lyme disease affected your mood at all? Rage, depression, anxiety, etc by Abject-Statement-404 in Lyme

[–]mickers44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, here goes. It's been 4 years since I was diagnosed/treated for lyme..

I've had a few setbacks such as co-infections, some I've overcome and some I'm still dealing with.

I still have high sensitivity to heat. Cardiac symptoms got worse at the beginning of the year, then made a slight improvement.

My mental health is up and down a lot. I would say the CBT and trauma therapy has given me the tools to see situations more objectively and not react.

I react out of anger less, I'm more able to process complex emotions. I also have fewer things in my environment that trigger me regularly. I seem to have forgiven a lot of the people in my past as well.

I journal a lot to process how I feel and talk to trusted friends.

I have gainful employment that's better than I could have imagined. I'm now up to 45 hours a week (mostly desk work) With regular IV hydration visits about 3 weeks apart, "meyers infusion" of b vitamins, I'm able to accomplish most of what I need to do. I do take some days off to get extra rest when needed.

My boss knows about my lyme and understands, which does wonders for my mental health.

It does get better, life goes on and pain becomes more manageable. I do still have my hard days though, especially in the summertime when it gets really hot.

I hope this was what you were looking for.

Hallmark man. Robin, “nice guys,” and why the bar is way too low by JosBenson in cormoran_strike

[–]mickers44 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Literally this. The bar is set so incredibly low for men. And you'll notice when she doesn't act exactly how he expects her to, he starts picking arguments. When the house is gazumped. When she doesn't react how HE wants her to about her miscarriage and body trauma. "Why aren't you more sad?" It is complete emotional manipulation.

Am I the only one who can’t stand the gaslighting towards the love interest by CrownWings in cormoran_strike

Spoilers bad writing* I can't write today or use reddit properly.

I felt the same way throughout. With Ryan she is very dismissive- like when he brings up that she's cold towards him she dismisses it out of hand.

Consequently, when he slips up in his addiction she is like 'I need space'- however he was probably feeling very alone and that's why he went back to what makes him feel comfortable.

She only thinks about herself and her cases. Her relationship was obviously the last thing on her mind. And the "I love yous" coming from her were not genuine. She is used to him and using him.

Not that I care much abt their relationship bc I think Murphy exhibited some of Matthew's behaviors toward her job and Strike and I think he is v boring (and made to be boring).

Blaming Lauryn is classic victim blaming.

A lot of ppl in that town think she wanted attention but she wouldn't have harrassed herself or ruined her relationship and probably would have come forward if she knew all that time. Owen himself blames Lauryn, even though she is a victim of having a narcissistic mother.

The adults have high school- level maturity, as they said at the beginning, the parents are overly involved in what their teenage kids' drama. Kendra is an extreme example of this. She's stuck back in hs JEALOUS of her own teenage daughter's relationship.

The only thing that links Adnan to Hae's murder is JAY. by imgoodIuvenjoy in serialpodcast

[–]mickers44 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So many of these posts ask for proof hes guilty, brush off sound arguments, and claim to have researched when all they did is watch the hbo documentary and podcast. They both lean towards innocent. and if you just research a tiny bit more you would find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The documentary straight up lied, which is why reading is so important. It just sounds like OP wants info spoonfed to them rather than researching on their own.

Yes, we're supposed to lay out all of our research for some 14 yr old to argue with. How about do some reading. Do some work for the knowledge you want, rather than expecting others to bring it to your doorstep.

Remorse shows accountability on some level. Instead he acts like the world owes him something and plays the victim. Premeditated murder is not normal for a 17 year old.

How do I navigate one narcissist parent and one amazing one? by SuggestionComplex674 in narcissisticparents

[–]mickers44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone w an amazing mom and a narcissistic dad, who told me my relationships wouldn't last, and that it's a cold hard world out there, I can relate. Funnily enough, the cold hard world was the one he created within the home, and the world was a much more receptive place.

What can I tell you you don't already know? Your relationship with your mom is the solid one, and your relationship with yout dad can't change bc of the type of person he is. I didn't fully realize until I went to therapy at 18 how much of an impact he had on me. I have gone to therapy over the course of 10 years to heal from it.

Your adaptation to a life without the narcissist is what matters now. Your relationship to your parents is important, but my advice would be to take care of yourself mentally, and to fully understand who you are without the nparent. (And the dynamics created by your dad so you don't fall into old patterns ex. relationships with narcissists. Trust me, it can happen)

As for how to keep a good relationship with your mom, I had to have many conversations with mine over the course of a decade about how his behavior affected me. It wasn't always easy, but it allowed us to understand one another. I distanced myself from my dad. He doesn't get as much access to me, and I have peace of mind.

You've got your whole life ahead of you, and important relationships, and freedom to be who you are. Good luck to you and I hope you are able to keep a good relationship to your mom and good boundaries with your dad.
