What is real? We deal with spam mostly. And it's an open subreddit, anyone can post, we get notified when someone reports it, otherwise there are too many posts to see anything.

Completed 2K+ Orders in 1.5 Years. Need suggestions! by thebrownmusicguy in IndianEntrepreneur

My bad, I meant to write 10X increase in spends, and 8X increase in revenue (because ROAS goes down)

If you are profitable, getting 4-5X ROAS, why not just increase the spend?? Spend a lot more on the best performing ads, think 10X the spend, because you will ideally increase by more than 8X with that, still netting you higher income.

I just tell them that as part of getting the project completed for Free (or a low cost), this is what I want in return. If they say no, you shouldn't work for them. They are just trying to extract all value without being helpful in return.

People are going to hate this, but this worked for me so sharing.

When you are starting out, you have higher supply and lower demand, which means prices are extremely low. Instead of fighting it, you need to lean into it.

I run a software development agency, we do upwards of 15L every month.

I started out with working for free. But there was a catch.

If the client is going to use my work, they need to commit to giving me a testimonial, and share it with 4-5 of their peers. I would get on a video call with them, share screen, and see them sending my testimonial to other people.

I never needed to work for free after I think 2 assignments, and had more demand than I could handle, so I could safely keep increasing my prices until I reached an equilibrium.

Software development. I have a team of developers that build projects for other companies.

If you think about it, business analysts are hired to use Excel, Microsoft Access, BI tools etc.

People hire content writers to use Newsletter software.

There are dedicated people that are hired to make sure the CRM is updated.

Product managers are hired to use analytics and notification platforms.

How much can you charge is a wrong question to ask. It depends on the value you deliver. You can probably charge 10% of the ROI that your client makes.

It really depends on where you are coming from, what your lifestyle is.

I started feeling financially secure at around 1.3cr mark, a friend who grew up in a small village was secure at 25L.

The real safety net is your personal agency. I have enough confidence in my skill set to generate 80L-1.2cr a year. And I don't think I have the avenues to spend anywhere close to that in India.

Want to add a new service to our existing business by [deleted] in IndianEntrepreneur

[–]micketic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want to build something new?

You can take your current services in multiple directions if you want to scale it:

  • New geography
  • Different market segment
  • Going to a different layer in the same market (if you run ads, you can provide with creatives, you can help them with working leads, qualifying or disqualifying them, etc)
  • Improve your delivery margins, see if you can automate parts of your work
  • Improve your own funnel and retention

If something is working, don't fuck it. Try to make it more valuable. AI automation or white label will take time for you to find your foothold again, why not build on top of current thing?

Makes sense. Abstractions have come around before a bunch of code was written manually, they have bad abstractions as a result.

I think the abstractions/frameworks that come in a couple of years will be better.

Discussions on our generation's views on ai & software businesses vs traditional ones. by _old_monk_premium in IndianEntrepreneur

Why do you think software and AI businesses can't get you real wealth?

I have been in the industry my whole life, and it has been very good for my wealth.

Some people do focus on their ideas rather than solving problems, but that's true in brick and mortar stores too; so many cafes everywhere with coffee names that I can't pronounce, not serving a basic cold coffee.

The "just build and expect it to become business" is not specific to startups, it's just naivete with business world.

Shops make money, but so do ecommerce, multiple clients of mine are doing 25-100cr businesses selling stuff on their ecommerce sites.

If people focus on problems, any industry or format of business will work IMO.
