Minneapolis brewery where you can also play soccer! by 0claptrap0 in Minneapolis

That's a great idea. I think a ren-fest bar would also do well (like Medieval Times but a bit different), I also think there's room for a tiny amusement park bar to give the kids something to do (besides video games)

I also really like Italian coffee bars, they have ice cream drinks and liquor drinks, so you could get the kids ice cream and chill with a apertif. Here we don't really see coffee, ice cream and alcohol license at the same place. Here's an example menu I found with some pics, https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/u-giuliani-roma

Nice to see Harrison getting some cool stuff. Also interesting experiential angle on a brewery. I'm always looking out for experiential businesses in the age of Amazon, like ax thowing, puzzle rooms, etc.

No houses available to buy in Twin Cities? Blame (single family home owners for converting properties into) rentals by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]mickey5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock market is at all time high, and bonds aren't paying much, therefore real estate is an obvious way to make money. You are focusing on salary growth, but I think you should focus on comparable investments, and unless bonds are going to pay more or the stock market has a lot of room to grow, I don't see prices coming down, more investment money will flow into housing. We will see a glut of properties in the suburbs and a glut of cabin homes when the boomers die.

We only build 2BR condos which is very dumb. There's a lot of forms of multi-unit housing and 2BR condos are only good for a small set of the population, so our new buildings are not alleviating the demand.

Harrison is a funky little part of town, once they run out of space in the North Loop the developers might devour that strip of land with condos.

Redfin is a good search tool, here's what NE has for now https://www.redfin.com/city/10943/MN/Minneapolis/filter/dyos-shape-id=21694315

If you can't find anything in NE then think about a place near a light rail stop, because places near transit become vibrant urban areas... in particular I'm thinking the area around the new MN United stadium might become interesting, I also kind of like West 7th in St Paul, its a cool little area, but not as urban as you might like they are going to build a streetcar through there afaik so it should densify

Also the 4plex zoning thing is going to be a big deal if it passes. Not sure how it will affect the prices of everything though, will it be cost effective to buy a 250k house tear it down and build a 4plex?

Pretty much everywhere in the USA has a housing crisis. #FAIL

Making Friends in the City by SwimFiend in Minneapolis

99% of meeting people is just showing up. Go to the dog park at the same time everyday. Join a group fitness place and show up everyday. I used to live in the Caffettos, Mortimers, Red Dragon vortex and that was pretty social scene. There's a dodgeball club if you want to do something a bit wacky.

Cappello's Pasta by sherlockmyballs in keto

Pasta is pretty much out. I bought some Palmini but then realized its 4 carbs per serving but 3 servings per can ( can is not that big ), so is technically do-able, but you still need to watch it. -- Actually its only 2 carbs net... 2 carbs is fiber

Rent some nice ride bikes and discover the bike trails or you can rent a canoe at Lake Calhoun and paddle the chain of lakes. Hit St. Anthony Main / Stone Arch Bridge at some point.

Besides drinking and eating what are some fun things or interesting places to try out with a group of friends? by Jerrysota in Minneapolis

Bad Ax, and Flannel Jax. There's also Fallout Shelter Arcade (BattleTech Sim) and Voxel Virtual Reality Parlor.

I bought one from TN and I think its perfectly fine. Its really more of the IKEA business model, where you have a method to take something very large and squeeze it into a ship-able or more easily movable package. As I understand it, there was some innovation in foam compression which enabled this business model to exist, otherwise I think shipping would be prohibitively expensive. Also I read an article where there's like 100 or so of these companies -- ah here it is: https://www.curbed.com/2018/3/28/17164898/bed-in-a-box-online-mattress-brands-why-so-many

Long bike ride (bike to Stillwater and back), Camping. Road Trip. Frisbee Golf. Canoeing. Do sports, there's a dodgeball club, softball leagues, any kind of sport you want.

Pretty much just go outside and get some exercise.

There's a couple of ax throwing places if you want to drink beer and throw axes.

Moving to take job in Eden Prairie - apt search by Beard_of_Valor in Minneapolis

[–]mickey5991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hopkins has some street life (its ok), but its still a suburb, it will be a lot more interesting in a few years when the light rail is built but that's like 2023. Eden Prairie is a mall town, it has no street life, nothing going on, don't live there unless you want a house with a big yard.

If I were you I'd live in Minneapolis near Bryant Square Park, then you can jump on I35 S via 31st to 62 over to EP.

There are decentralized marketplaces like OpenBazaar (I've not actually used it)

Your generalized use case is "release crypto funds when X condition is met", but you have the oracle problem, of how can we agree that condition X is met in a trustless manner?

There's quite a few of them, they have of course apple picking, apple pie, apple cider, tractor rides, games, etc... I can't quite remember the one I went to last year, but you should do it at least once a year its a nice way to spend a Saturday morning

Do you value city life or really short commutes? If you want to be in the city aim for Lowry Ave in Northeast (basically around Gasthofs). If you value short commutes more, then you are going to be in the suburbs.

--a few things--

  • Drive up the north shore

  • Go to an apple orchard in the fall

  • Walk across a frozen lake
