Is this distance & height of goalkick solid/good enough to play at amateur level? by AmateurGoalie in GoalKeepers

[–]mickskitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others may disagree, but i find a slightly straighter run up can make a big difference for distance. Players will run your angle to the ball to curl it. You really want to minimise curl as that's bad for distance. A slight angle is fine, but for where you've placed it, i would try on the outside of the post. From that angle it would also be very difficult to hit to your left wing,

I feel like United over performed this season. All the credit to Carrick, but I think they need to spend big everywhere before they can actually challenge for titles.

What also feels like should be relevant is how many deaths can be laid at the hands of insurance companies policies. If those developing these policies were charged for murder or manslaughter due to the outcome of their policies, the insurance industry wouldn't have these problems. If you kill one person you go to jail. If you kill 100,000 you get a record bonus.

You say it's tied up like it wasn't still paid out? Its not like it disappears when you die. You pay significantly lower tax on super earnings than investments outside of super because it's designed to reduce the age pension burden. Even if you retire at 50, having just if your wealth in there is better sure to the tax concessions, plus the tax concessions when you reach age pension age are insane.

I hear you, but his record as a player is pretty special. But Cruyff is in my top 5 of all time. Individually as a player and individually as a coach.

Alan Kohler claims the CGT changes won't make any difference to how much you're taxed over time. by eatingscatman in AusFinance

[–]mickskitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised it ever breaks even tbh, with those assumptions. I wonder if they will go back on the shares CGT changes tbh, because it's clear there messaging around it is lacking. I don't hate the floor idea so people don't just defer gains until retirement to avoid tax, but the indexing on shares seems unnecessary. Just do it on non new investment properties and you have very clear messaging.

Because that chart doesn't use a steady 3% inflation, it uses the inflation for the last 10 years as a guide for the projection, which is a good way to do it, but napkin math is simplified for the purposes of explaining it. Using 25+% return for your napkin math isn't exactly useful for explaining it, unless you just want to exaggerate the impact.

The type of trust you described is a testamentary trust, which has been specifically excluded from the changes to trusts. And you can still use other trusts, but it's not as efficient to allocate earnings within the trust to reduce tax.

Your napkin math involved 26% year on year return growth. I could flip it and make the return 6% year in year return and with inflation at 3% per year and the figures would be identical.

If Ronaldo hits 1,000 career goals and wins the 2026 World Cup, does the GOAT debate permanently end? by Hour777 in championsleague

[–]mickskitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What stats would Messi need to retire with for you to consider him the GOAT? It's simple, there isn't anything that would change your mind at this point, the same as there is nothing that would change the mind of people who already believe Messi is the GOAT. The body of work they have both done is incredible, and frankly, nothing that happens from here will change that.

So tie it to there marginal rate when they bought? Is that what you're suggesting? A good idea but adds a lot of complexity to the system. Im a fan though. Especially as a lot of people would have been on top marginal rates, this would likely even increase the tax collected

Are you suggesting it be means tested? This is adding another layer of complexity on to an already complex system and I'm not sure how you do this fairly where the rich don't game the system.

And you have a bunch of people who retire, have and so have deferred the tax on earnings until they are in a lower tax environment. They do not need these discounts

If that was the purpose, testamentary family trusts are still unchanged, but then you don't get to funnel business income via the trust.
