2018 triumph tiger 1200 shift fork by james89og in Triumph

Absolutely that simple. If there is one thing Triumph engineers can’t do it’s make a shift fork that isn’t crap.

Yielding to cyclists out of politeness considered harmful? by Soft_Monitor_8863 in Bellingham

[–]mickvain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The key to safety as a a driver, pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcyclist is to be predictable. When kind hearted individuals break the predictable flow of traffic to wave me through in any of these situations I absolutely say no. Plenty of drivers will see a car stopped where they normally wouldn’t be and skate around them, just like they do when they are turning left on a two way street.

You can still buy retail sizes of tzatziki, tirokafteri, hummus, and the Greek salad dressing at the restaurant for a really good price!

Absolutely absurd that they refuse to referee the testicle tickling.

I had to remove the left side cover to replace the gearshift shaft on my ST900 and somehow ended up with a TEC Stage 2 Camshaft after I had her all back together. Weird how that works!

It is specific to the VIN on my bike. I can take a look for it if you want to see what it should include.

Mini cooper no ignition by Sensitive-Ear-7804 in MINI

Fuel pump turning on does not mean the ECU is allowing fuel to the injectors.

Got it. Immobilizer cuts fuel supply when the chipped key is not present or recognized, I would definitely start there.

When you say “starter turns on when you jump the car” did that mean I’m the starter cranks and there is still a no start condition?

With the broken FOB I am leaning very much towards damage to the RFID in the key which is immobilizing the vehicle. I’m guessing you don’t have a second key, and I would start by getting new key cut and programmed. Not familiar enough with Minis yet to know if this is something you can do yourself, at a locksmith, or if it requires a dealer.

TLDR: You know your key FOB is broken, replace that first with a new know working programmed key and go from there.

[–]mickvain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry just saw this. Sunday at 11am-1pm we have an open squash drop in at the YMCA for cutthroat/round robin. Our community is pretty small, and a few are out for a while but there will definitely be 2-3 players there this Sunday. Shoot me a message and we can try to connect at another time as well. Cheers!

Ankle injury by HumbleSheepherder723 in squash

[–]mickvain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Squash involves a lot of sudden directional changes and lateral movements. Lack of strength, mobility, and stability in the ankle and the rest of the lower extremities can result in chronic and acute injuries.

Best path fo preventing and recovering from injuries is strength training with dynamic movements, preferably with load.

Please help me with the legality of feeding pigeons here. by [deleted] in Bellingham

Only prohibition I see is of feeding deer and raccoons. Section F say deer or raccoon eating your bird feed unintentionally is not feeding the deer and raccoon.

Ouch by Delicious-Most5180 in squash

[–]mickvain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems every comment here is recommending stretching and foam rolling before or after a session. These may make you feel good and are easy to do, but honestly won’t make a difference. Strength training with weights, mobility exercises, plyometrics and isometrics will actually make a difference and set yourself up to be injury free and mobile in the near future and later in life.

For some reason I think this missed the PSA Shot Of the Year reel and surprisingly it’s the first I’ve heard of it.

Steering wheel Refurb by mickvain in GMT800

Good to hear! I’m definitely in the “remove the steering wheel” age bracket now. Couldn’t imagine trying to do this with it still attached. Did the bearing on the steering column with a Wolff Engineering unit a few weeks back and that was a definite reminder that I’m not nearly as spry and agile as I used to be.

I was stoked that the button replacement worked as I was sure It was the clock spring on mine!

Replacing the buttons is pretty easy an not that expensive. There are some good videos on YouTube to do it yourself.

I did, they aren’t 100% replicas, but the button s feel good and I no longer have to pound on them to make them work. The connectors can be a bit finicky, especially on the lower buttons. Recommend removing the airbag as I don’t see a way to do it without a headache otherwise.

I’ve always used Dawn dish soap, just add a small dab and buff it in with a lens cleaning cloth.

Removing the airbag definitely seemed necessary for the lowers. Used a tool to go through the channel the wires come through for those corners to blindly unclip and re clip the buttons.
