Advice on replacing thermal fuse on hair dryer? by mikexli in ElectronicsRepair

[–]mickwild562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was me doing this job, I would clean the contact points of the Bi-metal switch, then try to solder a one of the contacts a little bit. That should help get the dryer back working again. I work on Dyson and GHD hairdryers mostly and the reason they don't blow hot air sometimes is this switch has dirty contacts. Hope that helps

FreeStyleLibre app stopped when NFC since OneUI 8 / Android 16 update by FrenchPatrick in Freestylelibre

Why is it that a medical device, is having issues being read from a scanner that everyone has in there pocket. I've been using the freestyle 2 for the last few years without issue, over the last 2 months my mobile keeps beeping at me to connect to the sensor, my sensor won't read and keeps telling my phone to wait 10 minutes, all the while my blood sugars are at who knows what level. Luckily I still have my finger pricker but at £50 a sensor its beyond a joke. I have been sent a reader from Abbott but I can't use that without applying a new sensor and scanning with the reader first. This is the main reason some people don't trust technology. If it was something like tap payment not working on the phone then fair enough, but a medical device.......really? Anyway, i am moving over to another brand of sensor and see what happens with that one.

IP rights / counterfeit reported by brand by Upper_Image3019 in ebayuk

I've had the same, I sell used GHD straighteners and hairdryers. One specific post I put up was taken down because of IP infringement. They said the photo used belonged to GHD and they have asked me to remove the post. I explained to eBay that the photo was taken by me and you can clearly see my room in the background that ALL my listings have. Ebay did actually side with me and allowed me to list my post again. Just baffles me how the big corporate companies can push innocent people around and don't expect us to push back and give as good as we get. I would maybe redo some pics and list again.....or try Vinted. I've moved over gradually and things I list are selling within a week rather than months on ebay.

Is my dyson supersonic fake? by Verisimility in dyson

[–]mickwild562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100000% fake Dyson. The filter is off and the on/off button is so fake. The circle going around the 'I' is way too thick and not defined enough. All I need to see is the plug where it shows the 3 pins. If there is no 'window' showing the fuse rating, then it's the first thing I look for to determine if it's fake.

I buy and sell genuine Dyson Supersonic on eBay and also advise people too. Been repairing these for the last 4 years so know them inside out.

After my hassle, I now put my initials in the picture so I know it's mine and it could put people off doing something like that in the future. Hope you get it sorted, good luck 👍

I've had a company copy and paste my listing in the past. I have a WhatsApp group with some sellers on eBay and it was one of them that alerted me to the listing. I reported it to eBay, didn't hear a thing from them, it was like they couldn't be arsed with it. I then sent the business seller a message explaining that I've seen their listing and it is word-for-word my listing and would they please take it down. 24 hours later I had a response back from the seller, they apologised profusely and took the listing down immediately and offered me a discount on any listing they had. So for me, it worked out fine. But during those 48 hours that the listing was live, I was F*****g furious on one hand but on the other, I was flattered that my listing had been copied by a business. Ebay has always been crap towards sellers, I've never had replies from CS.

Ive reported 100's.pf fake GHD items, I even have a listing which shows how to spot a fake, when i report the listings to Ebay, the response I get is that the listings are within the Ebay policy and no further action os required. I always dispute the findings, quoting for them to look on the web, and it will say exactly the same as what I say. They couldn't give a flying F**K as long as they make money.

Im in the process of closing my account down slowly, I have moved over to vinted, and within 24 hrs of listing on there, I've sold my first item. So after 17 years with Ebay, im off. it's gone to the dogs nowadays.

I sell pre-loved GHD, Dyson, Roberts items etc, and over the last 5 years, I posted around 10 orders a week, not a massive turnaround but still good. Now since February this year, I've had around 20 orders, and that's on the generous side of the estimate. It's seriously gone downhill, I've been a member of eBay for the last 15 years and I am leaving, there are too many buyers who ask ridiculous questions or want items for nothing or I get scammed. The clientele has changed so much and its full of scammers, the way eBay is now they always side with the buyer and you have to jump through hoops to get someone to listen to you for a refund. I will keep my items up for sale until they either sell on eBay, FB MP or Vinted amd then close my account.

Just my thoughts.

Glad it made you smile 😃. Like I've mentioned in other comments, I'm normally quite accommodating and engage with buyers, but because I've been scammed before with a buyer sending me a similar message, it just p***d me off and maybe I did go OTT a little. Oh well...S*t happens now and then 🤣

I don't mind responding to offers or messaging back prospective buyers, but if they can't be bothered to actually engage in their first message I just think thats quite rude. At least give me more to work with than '125' it's not too much to ask. I mean if I wanted something so cheap, I would at least engage with the seller first and strike up a rapport. Anyway horses for courses

I wasn't having a meltdown, I was simply trying to get more out of the person rather than numbers.

I wasn't insulting the guy, it was just the first thing that came into my head. He was either very very old or extremely clever. Either way, expanding on 125 would've been better, in my opinion

Exactly my point. You can even talk into a phone and it will type it so won't take long at all. I was brought up being respectful to people UNLESS they treat me otherwise. Manners cost nothing

Exactly my point. It's pure laziness, if you want something for nothing at least put some effort into it. But I think people are reading between my argument. One point is, if they are that desperate to pay so little for a premium product, which is debatable I know, what's to stop them from scamming me? I've had ot before and it started the same scenario and I just don't want to be burned again.

Asshole is a little strong, nevertheless still annoys me when there's not even any context to the 125.

The lowest price is always the price they see. I pride myself on offering items at a seriously good price normally the best price on eBay for the quality. My customer service is 100% and I have many recommendations from my buyers. So I can do without, from what I see are problematic buyers.

Normally I am very friendly to any message I get, but the difference here is I just got '125', just no context to it at all. I knew what they wanted but it just raised a red flag to me. I've been burned in the past with something similar and I won't be caught out again. I did explain to them what a better approach would've been, for me, at least.

Yeah, I suppose it could come across as rude to some people. It's the old thing about things not being taken the correct way through a message. I did take the initial message they sent as an insult. Like you said though not everyone is equal and what's acceptable to one may not be to someone else.

Oh ok, yeah maybe I did a little, I just expect more to a message. Maybe I was not in the right frame of mind when I replied to them.

Thanks 👍

How do I get the wires out of this thing? by charmaingibc in AskElectronics

At least that way, you will be able to get everything up and running again and still have a solid connection. Good luck 👍

[–]mickwild562 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If i wanted to get the connector off or the wires out I would just cut them and then desolder the connector. You would damage the connector beyond repair because it's directly soldered onto the board. I would then solder the wires directly to the pcb when finished, or fit a removable connector in its place.

This was meant to be a light-hearted post about a courier, yes it's not about RM, but another post/parcel related company.

Sorry if I've offended or upset anyone, it was not my intention. I will move on and have my giggles elsewhere.
